This week on Nerds United, Mike and Greg stay on track by talking about comics, like new acquisitions and what we’ve read in the past week.

Deadpool & Wolverine hit Disney+ this week. Did you give it a rewatch?

And what’s been going on in your life?

But the emphasis on this week’s show will be nostalgia. Cartoons from the 1980s. How does that work? They had to air at some point in the 80s. We’ll spend a fair amount of time on that arena.

As always...be kind.

Nerds United’s first episode was released on June 10, 2013. It featured Van Jensen and told his story from small-town Nebraska the Green Lantern Corps title for DC Comics. Check it out here: https://jitterymonkey.com/nu1/

The show has had several iterations and featured so many talented people. But at some point, the conversation shifted. It took five years for the show to get to its 100th episode. Mike had his first appearance in May of 2018 in episode 95 to discuss Avengers: Infinity War.

Mike would stay on, under the moniker of “Co-Host of the Year.” And with a reliable co-host, the content would amplify. If it took five years to get to the 100-episode milestone, it would take only six more years for the other 300.

But the time has come to say goodbye.

On this final episode, we will get current on any recent comic book acquisitions, and strongly urge you to support your local brick and mortar comic book shop.

We will get caught up on anything we’ve seen recently. And let’s face it – there’s so much to see.

We will share memories. We will laugh. We will drink.

We will say goodbye.

Until then, and after this episode, always remember to Be Kind.

This week on Nerds United, the guys are back in the seats after a week off. So Greg is delighted to hear about Mike going to a concert last week.

In the week away, the news really piled up. It is official that Max’s DC show Lanterns has cast its Hal Jordan and its John Stewart. Two characters. Four first names. What a time to be alive.

Also making casting news is DC alum Henry Cavill joining the Voltron project for Prime MGM Studios. This project is getting more and more interesting.

Marvel is working on a video game that takes place within the MCU. It could be anything! It could be nothing at all related to the films. The possibilities are endless.

And in news that both breaks our hearts and doesn’t shock us at all, Joker 2 (too lazy to get the subheading right) was a gigantic flop. I mean...beached whale flop. What were you thinking, Todd Phillips? Joker 2 will be available to stream before the end of the month.

As always, be kind.

See you next time!

If you haven’t heard yet, Nerds United is being retired (or put out to stud) soon, with episode 400 being the final time Greg and Mike sit down regularly to do a show. This week’s episode will include discussion on the Toxic Avenger (oh yeah...again), Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and the return of possibly the greatest show of all time. Mike also has concocted a new trilogy draft for us. I’m looking forward to this how, and I hope you are too. As always... Be kind.

This week on Nerds United, Greg and Mike discuss the newest Transformers movie to his theaters, as Greg took his oldest to the movies on Saturday to catch Transformers One.

Meanwhile, Disney+ dropped the first two episodes of Agatha All Along this weekend. Mike watched at least one of those episodes and will fill us in on what it is all about.

When Starz cancelled Heels after two seasons, the show entered a stage of limbo. While a third season remains uncertain, Netflix did acquire the two available seasons and those are now available for streaming on the service. Greg is into the second season and is not only enjoying the various individuals who make up the show but the show itself is really stand out.

So somehow we will parlay these topics into about a 45-0 minute episode as usual.

As always...be kind.

This week on Nerds United, there will be more discussion about Cobra Kai since Greg had a chance to finally watch it.

It’s Mike’s birthday today and the big studios felt that it was time to give Mike some solid gifts. First this week, Mike (and the world) received Star Wars Skeleton Crew. Then on Friday, Warner Bros., via DC and the MAX streaming app, gave us (and Mike too) the first two episodes of Creature Commandoes.

We celebrate Mike, and discuss some of our favorite Greg and Mike moments, like Mike’s first appearance on the show.

And Mike chose tonight’s pick ’em, so we are doing comic book covers.

This week on Nerds United, we will continue to discuss some of the aftermath of the 2024 San Diego Comic Con, as the biggest bombshell happened about 24 hours after our last show.

Robert Downey Jr is coming back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will return as Doctor Doom (or at least one version, I’m sorry – variant) of such, and the Russo Brothers are back as well.

Giancarlo Esposito will play the King of the Serpent Society in Captain America: Brave New World.

We got a little taste of Fantastic Four: First Steps as well as Thunderbolts*.

A couple new Star Trek projects are growing closer to being ready for public consumption.

The guys are going to blind-rank some streaming shows and then discuss mouth-watering, delicious, breakfast foods!

This week on Nerds United LIVE, Greg and Mike discuss some of the week’s headlines.

One of the bigger headlines of the week was the release of the Joker 2 trailer. As Joaquin Phoenix dons the makeup once again, he’s joined by Lady Gaga who will portray Harley Quinn. One of your beloved hosts made it through the trailer. The other gave up. But why?

Find out X-Men ’97 is a wild success on Disney+ and perhaps it is re-energizing the X-Men brand. he guys discuss the announcement of three X-titles set for release this summer, one of which is being written by a past guest on this very show.

Very excited to finally be able to say... IM WRITING PHOENIX! A new ongoing coming this July from myself and @alessandromirac. Huge thanks to @annalisebissa for allowing us to take Jean on this cosmic journey. And Yasmine Putri on covers. pic.twitter.com/OA5BBfiQUV

— Stephanie Phillips (@Steph_Smash) April 10, 2024

What have the guys been watching or reading? Get the latest in capes, cowls, and more from two guys who enjoy sharing their love of all things nerdy.

And last but not least, the most unfortunate timing for a headlining topic as the duo discusses which fast food restaurants to save. Why is today possibly the worst day for this category to pop up in the ongoing series? Because Greg went to the doctor...and the results are just so-so.

This week on Nerds United, the distinguished gentlemen discuss the trailer that dropped for the second and final season of Arcane and the first three episodes of The Boys (available now on Prime Video). Dwayne Johnson is taking his talents from Warner/Discovery to Disney, inking a first-look deal for his production company.

For the first time in history, adults are the prime consumers of toys. Why? Are we regressing? Are we refusing to grow up? And at a time with high inflation and the economy in the crapper, who can afford toys?

Lastly, we’ll spend some time talking about movies that have to do with summer or vacations.

Good evening, Nerdy Nimrods! Tonight, Nerds United with Greg and Mike is back LIVE in front of a studio audience (you know who you are, and apparently we were missed Friday night).

With a new year upon us, what comic book adaptations are coming to a big or small screen and how excited are the guys for suck shows like Peacemaker, Marvel Zombies, and a host of others?

Did the guys get in any nerdy content over the holidays or were they inundated with Christmas classics?

In Mike’s break in school, did he have a chance to read anything? Did Greg FINALLY finish Injustice Vol. 2?

We’ll recap holiday happenings and the joy and awe on the faces of children.

We’ll look ahead to an exciting 2025 that already has a lot of moving parts in the works.

As always...be kind.
