Brooklyn Native and Afro-Caribbean actress, Nia Fairweather, was the breakout star of Netflix's LGBTQ Holiday film, "A New York Christmas Wedding.” Nia's versatility as an actress is exemplified in her leading role. As her Christmas Eve wedding draws near, Jennifer Ortiz (Nia Fairweather) is visited by Azrael, a Yuletide angel, and shown what could have been if she hadn’t denied her true feelings for her childhood best friend, Gabrielle, who died 20 years prior. Glamour Magazine credits the film for showing the evolution of the 'Cheesy' Christmas genre.Nia is an award-winning Afro-Caribbean actress (The Roe Effect, Paralysis) and writer/producer (OORDEEL, Four Seasons) whose work is being featured in the Diversity in Cannes Film Festival, American Black Film Festival, UrbanWorld Film Festival, Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival, and BlackStar Film Fest; on HBO, Netflix, Nickelodeon, Cinemax, CBS, AspireTV, BET, Centric and Creative Control, to name a few. She believes in empowering women from all walks of life by helping them realize their own power.
Their purpose is to provide positive images of Black and LatinX professional lesbians while affirming and empowering others. They don’t need a space made for them, they create a space for themselves wherever they are.
