Jacked Ramsays: A Portland Trail Blazers Podcast

Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague with special guest Erik Gundersen of the Associated Press as they take a look over the last week for the Portland Trail Blazers.

Now a week removed from Neil Olshey’s dismissal following a 5-week investigation, the ramifications of that move are coming to the fore: the Blazers are in desperate need of an overhaul. Interim GM Joe Cronin, Coach Chauncey Billups and new President Dewayne Hankins all spoke today at an impromptu press even addressing many concerns on the basketball, business, and human capital side.

Of course, there’s still the article by Adrian Wojnarowski that targeted Damian Lillard and got Lillard and some in his camp to characterize the article in a negative light. Letting some behind the curtain of what has been a messy ordeal following Olshey’s exit.

We still haven’t got to CJ McCollum being ruled out with a collapsed lung, Nassir Little having a scare from a leg cramp, Anfernee Simons out with a twisted ankle, and Lillard getting a Cortisone shot to try and relieve some pain in his abdomen.

Hop in with the fellas and try to take it all in. It’s going to be a bumpy ride the next few weeks.

Join hosts Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Monday night’s Trail Blazers vs Clippers game that saw Portland lose to Los Angeles 102-90, albeit in significantly less spectacular fashion than their previous three.

Without Damian Lillard, CJ McCollum, Anfernee Simons or Nassir Little - the shorthanded Blazers relied on Norman Powell (29 points) and Jusuf Nurkic (31 points) to carry the offensive load. While they came up short, the product on the floor was so much better than it has been for the past few weeks, that it’s hard to fathom a game where they never really pushed ahead or in front of their opponent being such a massive improvement.

The vibes, while not an official scale, were definitively better with McCollum off the floor - and it appears the message of heart, hustle and give-a-damn at least resonated enough to manifest is cursory level commitments. Unfortunately, the system is still very broken but when things have been so awful recently, it’s nice to not ring the same bells following a loss.

Join Danny Marang and Brandon Sprague as they take a look at Monday night’s game between the Portland Trail Blazers and the Dallas Mavericks - with Portland falling 132-117, dropping their record to 13-20 on the year.

The Blazers really only had one job, don’t get killed by Kristaps Porzingis. Then they went out and got absolutely obliterated by Kristaps Porzingis. Now, I like to live on the wild side a little bit here and there - but continually switching on minimal contact - sometimes none at all - and allowing Porzingis to dictate his touches as much as he did tonight... sometimes Portland just willfully left him wide open... was probably jumping the shark.

It’s one thing for Portland to be short handed, and/or undersized - it’s entirely another to wantonly give up the one thing you absolutely cannot in such a tremendously easy fashion. Staples Center is free to be used again, and it appears the Easy Button had landed permanently for Portland opponents.

Hop on and try to sift through the sordid mess of tonight’s game - that did have some promising moments; Nassir Little made his impact felt... <> so yeah, let’s do this!
