Into the Pray

Into the Pray

Nick & Mairi Franks

“Breaching the Chaos of the Church” is the phrase we use regarding the Body of Christ to acknowledge that there is both a problem - a gargantuan one - and a stunningly blessed Hope. If you’re fed up, sick and tired of “church” and “christian spirituality” - and we expect you are - and if you’re also gagging for the Coming King - and we hope you are - this podcast will be a timely prescription for you. TEXT US! (Please make sure you include your name/contact details!)

Hello!
Thank you for listening to Into the Pray!
For our latest Friday session looking at "All the Prophets", it is a joy to spend time talking with John Betts from Norwich, the most senior guest that we've hosted on this podcast.
Leading within both the local and national church scene for more than 50 years, John carries an infectious passion to see biblical truth once again resound from British churches.
Talking broadly around the mysterious biblical prophet, Ezekiel, grab your Bible and sit back and listen to John and Nick discuss the church, prayer and the hope of reformation and renewal.
This conversation is also available to watch on YouTube.
Thank you very much for your ongoing prayers for healing as Nick continues to return to full health. The process is not necessarily overnight! We share more on our Patreon page for those of you who would like to walk this journey more closely with us.
If you would like to support our work, (including a full-length audiobook version of Body Zero) you can do so here and/or here. Please also consider sharing this podcast to your networks for us.

*Apologies that the audio in this episode of Into the Pray is not as crisp as usual. We are in the process of decorating and we will be back to normal very soon*
This is our normal Friday session with guests, friends and book reviews.
See a related Instagram post on this issue of healing here.
Today, still in this third season Life Together, Nick meets with dear friend Seamus Bannon to discuss the sensitive issue of chronic pain and healing.
We are at a time in history where the Church is being shaken, arguably more than it ever has been. Faithfulness to Scripture and the Spirit of God is like a rare commodity or jewel.
As such, it is becoming increasingly clear to the witness of the Church on the earth that doctrines of demons (1 Timothy 4:1) are running rampant throughout the undulating terrain of the Body of Christ.
"Word of faith" cults posture everywhere as legitimate Christian communities and yet, as you're about to hear, many, many people are waking up to the deeply dark and demonic deceptions that often manifest in dodgy doctrines concerning healing.
Before you think for a second that we are cessationists, we are certainly not! (Cessationism is also a doctrine of demons).
We believe very much in the charisms - the gifts - of the Holy Spirit; we are eagerly desiring the gift of prophecy from the Spirit of God Who is our Precious Paraclete.
However, there are false doctrines that strut around as though they were truly "words of faith" when actually they are profoundly fraudulent forms of Christian orthodoxy.
Listen to Seamus' testimony having formerly been part of a "word of faith" mentality and listen to the wisdom - and freedom - that he is now able to testify from.
Whether you are seriously ill yourself, perhaps struggling with something more minor or whether you know people who are literally dying, this testimony from Seamus is deeply encouraging and honouring of the incomparable Name of Jesus.
If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. You can give here.

Finally, here is a medley of songs (all written before 1980) that we have been comforted by in recent days.Come, Lord Jesus!

Into the Pray - City of Temples Teaching Series: Update

TEXT US! (Please make sure you include your name/contact details!)

Greetings, Everyone!
This brief episode of Into the Pray is an update regarding our methodical teaching through the book of 1 Corinthians.
Suffice to say, an 8 week-old yellow Labrador called Barley has interrupted my plans for today, hence this shorter-than-normal session. Sincere apologies to all for not being able to make the first session in chapter 6 happen in time for today.
However, there are a couple of important notices in this episode (also partly regarding our next teaching session) that relate to "the prophetic", a proliferation of which we are witnessing emerge at the moment as the world reels and writhes.
Please read our blog post about wise/foolish "prophecy" here.
Please also look out for our forthcoming film that will deliver a sobering warning that will be difficult for many of you to hear - and watch - however, it is precisely what He has shown us in this first month of 2021.
Some of this is personal for just ourselves but it also bleeds into our responsibility to communicate publicly. We consider this public communication to be a key part of our calling in order to see the Body of Christ 'built up in love'.
If you would like to help support this podcast and the wider work we're pioneering, we would be very grateful as we increasingly find ourselves at capacity in more ways than one. You can give here. You can also view our review of 2020 in vlog form by clicking here.

Finally, here is a song that we have been comforted by in recent stormy days.

Until next week,
Come, Lord Jesus!

Into the Pray - Season 2: Work For Reformers (Intro)
play

07/16/20 • 38 min

TEXT US! (Please make sure you include your name/contact details!)

Into the Pray is back with Season 2!
This is the intro episode for the brand-new season that we're calling, "Work for Reformers".
The prophetic people of God are often paralysed by a fear of youth and inexperience and a political spirit that wants us safe, controlled, predictable, quiet, silent, impotent and lukewarm.
But our Bible tells us to eagerly desire the gifts that the Spirit gives (still He does this: present, continuous), especially the specific gift of prophecy.
Guys, this is for all of us, not just one sinewy figure of mystery who approaches a king or queen occasionally.
Think about the prophetic people of God assembling for a new thrust of reformation! A new, historic receiving of the gift of prophecy, en masse, that would be capable of uprooting the rotten roots of theology and of ecclesiology etc that destabilises the whole Bride.
Apologies because we forgot to read out Mairi’s very neat writing from her notebook for the areas we’ll be covering over this season, so here they are:

  • forgiveness and reconciliation are not the same thing
  • The damage of Christians calling for forgiveness while obstructing reconciliation
  • Jesus puts dialogue at the centre of reconciliation. What makes good dialogue?
  • False notion that some relationship is better than none
  • Family relationships
  • Romantic relationships
  • Knowing that you need to forgive someone but not sure how
  • Marriage - when a new union is made changes happen in relationships. The principle of leaving and cleaving
  • Resisting forgiveness and the result of prayerlessness
  • God knowing your heart vs people seeing your life

Please let us know if there are any other areas that you’d like us to dig into!
Check back for episode one next Friday (6am), oh, and please leave us a review and tell a friend.
Maranatha

Hello!
Thank you for listening to Into the Pray.
If you'd like to listen to my response to Doug Wilson's commentary on the Body of Christ, please see the video here.
This morning’s devotional looks at Psalm 63 and the soul-thirst of King David within the wilderness of Judah.

My soul thirsts for you (v1)
My soul will be satisfied (v5)
My soul clings to you (v8)

As you live in the world, are you aware of your extreme soul-thirst?
Look out for another podcast shortly with the audio I mentioned from the video responding to Doug Wilson’s commentary on the Body of Christ.
Thank you for your prayers as I compete my second manuscript. If you'd like to support this project as a partly auto-biographical follow-on from Body Zero (2019), please drop me a line.

Dear All
You can watch a video presentation of this podcast here.
Thank you for listening to Into the Pray — our little offering of sanity amidst the ramping chaos of the Church and the anti-Christ world.
You can support this work here.
Title music can be listened to here.
When the term "wounded prophet" is used, often by church pastors, what is really going on?
Of the biblical Prophets, Abraham Heschel wrote:
"The sorts of crimes and even the amount of delinquency that fill the prophets of Israel with dismay do not go beyond that which we regard as normal, as typical ingredients of social dynamics. To us a single act of injustice – cheating business, exploitation of the poor – is slight; to the prophets, a disaster. To us injustice is injurious to the welfare of the people; to the prophets it is a deathblow to existence: to us, an episode; to them, a catastrophe, a threat to the world."
Thank you...and thank you for listening.

Into the Pray - "Home" (song of worship)
play

01/17/24 • 5 min

Greetings All!
We hope this song of worship is a blessing to all of you who happen to listen to this podcast and who are longing for your John-14-home. God bless, N&M
Please seriously consider supporting our full-time ministry as we head into another increasingly "radicalised" year of service for the soon-to-come Lord Jesus. Neither of us now have salaries and the work we do in the background to produce all that we do is significant. As I explain in this teaching session, regular videos/podcasts will resume, Lord wiling, when we have a home to move into. You can support us here. Thank you.
The YouTube version of this song can be viewed here.
Title music can be listened to here.
Also of note:
Back in the spring of this I year, I published the seminal work, "The Glorious Few: Redeeming Radicalisation in the Kingdom of God."
In the period of 2 weeks following publishing, several major things happened all at once that could have happened at any point in the previous 9 years. The disruption of the Lord culminated in Mairi resigning from her role as a Teacher of French in a large secondary school in Edinburgh and was a disruption that I wrote about prophetically in the book's epilogue. This episode of the Into the Pray podcast is Mairi's testimony and, as the final podcast in our home where the podcast began, please let me encourage you to listen with a prayerful heart. Perhaps you'd also share the episode to your networks.
Finally, what would Nick say to your local church and leadership? The 1% Church.
Maranatha!

Into the Pray - Relational Alignment & the Gift of Prophecy
play

07/30/20 • 64 min

TEXT US! (Please make sure you include your name/contact details!)

When we say that, "The no.1 collateral damage for the prophetic messenger is relationship"....what do we mean?
We thought the best way to answer this is to give a bit of insight into the first 8 years of our married lives/public ministry together.
On our wedding day, it was prophesied over us that we would "live loud" for God, and that we would be reformers in the spirit of Jeremiah 33.
This is the calling of all of us today, in one form or another.
We talk about marriage quite a bit in this episode - mainly because it's preeminently important as a socio-cultural issue in our disintegrating world - but we will also be doing more specific content on marriage later in this season... biblical illiteracy is rife.
If the redefinition of marriage in 2014 was the litmus test to gauge the prophetic eagerness of the Church, God knows that we urgently need a new Reformation. COVID-19 is surely a rousing, coffee-smelling gift to the Body of Christ.
It's our longing that as we have given just a little glimpse into the path that we have travelled, including a little detail about the collateral damage in relationship that we've experienced, we trust that you will be provoked into more wholeheartedness in prioritising, loving and following Jesus.
He's coming; we must get ready.
Please share this for us! Please also get in touch with questions and thoughts and suggestions for guests you'd like to hear on the show.
Next week we'll be poring more over 1 Corinthians and Ephesians, so why not tell a mate?
Until next week...
Maranatha/love

TEXT US! (Please make sure you include your name/contact details!)

On the Into the Pray #podcast this week, we’re joined by Ryan Kondo, a bro from t’other side of the large, oceanic mass (we did say that we don’t like overused, meaningless cliche!).
Bringing with him a mighty wealth of experience leading worship and pastoring teams around the world, we’re so pumped to host him in this convo.
All of us tracking with these podcasts over the last 2.5 months have had an earful about the chaos in the Body, the ensuing chaos unfolding in the world and the double-minded Church that would prefer to sing songs of blessing at this time rather than bow the knee.
Seriously.
The emerging division within the Body of Christ - even concerning this one solitary issue of repentance - is only going to accelerate and accumulate, until finally the Bride is fully prepared in corporate harmony, singing “Come, Lord Jesus!”
So we’ve focused enough (for now) on the chaos and now we’re pivoting into more of a hopeful sense of what Father God is planning.
This preparation of the Body of Christ for His return is impossible without this prescribed prophetic polemic, but is also a very hard gig for anyone who is faithful in responding to it.
This is why we talk this week to Ryan who is very qualified indeed to help us all in learning that the oiliness of anointed, lingering, prayerful worship is to be found at the very epicentre of a radical preparation for the return of Christ - the very heartbeat of “Maranatha!”
Despite the warfare, the rebuke, the admonition, and because of the pressure and pressing and breaking, we need to understand that singing and musicianship and corporate worship are just beginning to really find their place on Earth.
Beloved, He is en route and, although some of us might think that we understand how to worship, we actually think we’re only just starting.
Ryans’s song that he mentions at the end is found here:

Please get in touch and let us know what kind of content/emphases you’d like us to explore with guests moving into Summer 2020.
Love and maranatha,
N&M xx

Hello!
Welcome to Into the Pray and thank you for listening. (Don’t miss an extended YouTube conversation between Nick and Steve Buckley on Boxing Day here).
This is the final episode of Into the Pray for 2021 and we couldn't be joined by better people!
Please stay tuned to the end of this podcast where Gwil performs an impromptu acoustic version of his new song, Like Jehovah.
Gwil & Beth Davey are involved in the leadership of New Hope Christian Centre in Norwich, England. You can watch this podcast here.
Gwil is a gifted worship leader and singer/song-writer (please see his Spotify artist link here) and has a new single out, entitled Like Jehovah, in January. Here's a the pre-save link for that new song!
Beth is also involved in leading an exciting and pioneering work with children for the surrounding Norwich vicinity. Please take some time to read Beth's blog here.
It is a fitting end for this final episode in our "All the Prophets" season to be one in which ‘beholding worship’ has its place: when all is said and done, there is no-one like you, Jehovah.
Thank you to Gwil and Beth for joining us and sharing so honestly.
