Changes in our societal values and human behaviors that were already underway often accelerate, advance or avalanche during a global crisis. Because we are all in this together and have knowledge of only one planet (at this time), there seems to be newfound freedom to show who we are and the many global challenges we face daily. While many will return to old habits, routines, beliefs, and ways of thinking, we can also expect new and exciting transparency into people’s lives, struggles, adventures, pain, and joys we gained and experienced through this global crisis together. A new level of authenticity, awareness, and transformation, along with our dealings with one another and Marc’s prediction of “The Great Coming Together” during our own “Roaring 20s.”
In his Hierarchy of Needs, psychologist Abraham Maslow claims that as humans, we naturally prioritize “basic physiological needs” such as food, drink, shelter, and “safety needs” achieved through financial and emotional security. These needs are typically met through employment, physical health, and mental wellbeing. Do we retreat to what is familiar? Do we focus only on a short-term goal for short-term gain, or do we see this as an opportunity to reboot, reinvent, revive, rejuvenate and gravitate to this “new norm of consciousness?”
