BEYOND THE NEAR HORIZON - THE IMMORTAL SISTERS EPISODE - AUDIOBOOK
Meet Colonel Stephen Prather, a self-styled explorer of the arcane and the improbable, broadcasting nightly from disclosed and undisclosed locations across the globe. Armed with relentless curiosity and a frequent lack of self-awareness, Prather serves as the enigmatic anchor of Beyond the Near Horizon, a long-running radio program steeped in the paranormal, the conspiratorial, and the permanently unexplained.
In this second installment, The Immortal Sisters Episode, we trek backward to the radio show's year of origin: 1975. The Colonel and his faithful assistant Yuri conduct an intrepid mission into southern Canada, to solve the mysteries circulating Hollow's Rest, a quaint and eerie destination seated at the mouth of Nameless Cove, a nearly forgotten inlet on the northern shores of Lake Superior.
There, in a cathedral of pines, stands Brightfield House—built in the 1870s by Alaric and Lenore Brightfield, and occupied since 1929 by the sisters Lillian and Margaret. In the intervening years, something very strange has been unleashed upon the people of Hollow's Rest. Sightings and happenings have occurred so frequently, they have become taboo to polite conversation. A secret and quiet dread has wrapped itself around this idyllic town. Yet, in the corners and shadows, there are whispers...of the dead that walk the Brightfield garden at dusk, forests that hunt the hunters that enter them and of course there is the matter of frequent, disappearing visitors.
Broadcasting directly across from this mystery shrouded ancestral residence, Colonel Prather will make vigilant watch over a weekend in November 1975, daring the forces there to emerge from their dark recesses. Will he expose them, or will they consume him in the end? All this and more will be revealed, beyond the near horizon.
