What is citizenship? How do you define a good citizen of the world? Kenisha and Griffin learn what citizenship encapsulates, with its tremendously vast range of subject areas, discovering what RBC is focused on in DEI, with the Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, RBC - Christina Cleveland. Christina shares her deep knowledge, what RBC has been developing, and their plans for the future. Their next guest is CBC Talk Show Host Madison Tevlin, who discusses her show, which speaks to people who feel that they are often misrepresented. Digital (R)evolution
In The (K)now
11/14/22 • 27 min
We are all living in the digital revolution, so what should we be prepared for? Kenisha and Griffin intend to find out what’s on the horizon, and what security risks to watch out for when it comes to banking. To help with their digital and security questions, Chief Digital Officer, Personal & Commercial Banking RBC, Peter Tilton is on the show, relaying updates on digital security at RBC, and giving helpful advice about how individuals can take responsibility for their security by following a few simple guidelines. Next up, Kenisha and Griffin sit down with one of the foremost experts on digital innovation, Amber Mac - who updates our audience on what is currently hot on the digital scene and hints at digital innovations we should look out for. And as always, Kenisha and Griffin can’t have a successful podcast host on the show without asking for some solid advice on what makes a great podcast and sets the hosts up for success. Shameless free advice? Our hosts will take it.

There is No Planet "B"
In The (K)now
12/05/22 • 29 min
In an episode dedicated to exploring the environmental issues that affect everyone, Kenisha and Griffin start with a visit from Head, Strategic Initiatives & ESG, RBC Capital Markets, Lindsay Patrick. Lindsay reveals how banking can impact climate change, aspects of which may really surprise our audience. Lindsay takes our hosts through the various environmental programs RBC is involved in, including Tech for Nature, and offers advice on what careers are being created or enhanced because of the drive for climate change. We then catch up with Sharif Mahdy, who is the Executive Director of the Students Commission of Canada. Sharif’s organization runs the Canada We Want conference, where youth from all over Canada meet to discuss their vision for the future of Canada, which of course includes the topic of climate change. Sharif discusses what he has heard from the young people he works with about this subject, and also shares the rewards he has felt from being a long-time mentor.

Livable Cities
In The (K)now
10/24/22 • 23 min
The nation’s economy is changing now more than ever, leaving many of today’s young people wondering what they can afford, and where they can afford to live? Kenisha and Griffin set out to learn more about the economy from Claire Fan, an Economist at RBC, who breaks down how the economic climate can be best measured, what is skyrocketing in price, and what hope for affordability we have in the future. Is there such a thing as an affordable Canadian city to live in? Elise Pundyk stops by to answer that very question. Elise is the Research & Program Coordinator for Youthful Cities, who wisely advises our hosts and audience to not only look for a city that is affordable but also consider if you would actually like to live there. Don’t just think affordable, think livable.

Yeah, It's Cool, but Is It Here to Stay?
In The (K)now
11/28/22 • 25 min
One of the most difficult things to predict is trends. What trend is a fad and what trend will stick around? We aren’t just talking Beanie Babies and Nordic Tracks here, this is big money, and big decisions are constantly being made about which trends to follow and which trends we should let go of. Kenisha and Griffin want to know who to believe, so they start by soaking up trend advice from Head, RBCx and Ventures, Sid Paquette. Though he admits that he’s, “not a trendy guy,” - he knows a whole lot about the metaverse and augmented reality, among other things. Our hosts meet Swish Goswami, who is the CEO of Surf. Swish knows a lot about the trends that are out there from an entrepreneurial perspective, and his advice is invaluable when we look at where everyone’s focus is going to be over the next few years. Swish also sums up his popular keynote talk - leaving us with some thoughts of what he’s up to next, which is certain to not be a passing fad.

Get in the Game
In The (K)now
11/07/22 • 28 min
Both the world of sports and gaming are explored, as Kenisha and Griffin get in the game with Vice President of Brand Marketing, RBC, Shannon Cole - who dives into the world of sports and marketing, followed by video game developer, Stephanie Harvey - or missharvey if you are a fan and follower of her super successful video game playing career. Shannon highlights the many ways that RBC is helping budding Canadian athletes through the RBC Training Ground program, and informs us about the RBC Gaming Grant, which is a perfect segue to our second guest. Stephanie Harvey gives our hosts a peek into the world of video game development and sheds some light on how our listeners could potentially work in this field, as well as maybe become a successful, aka paid, video game player.

In The (K)now

In this mental health-themed episode, Kenisha and Griffin begin with the Head of Group Benefits, RBC Insurance, Julie Gaudry. Julie fields questions that range from the societal stigma that faces people who have mental health issues, to what employees can expect from their employers when it comes to health insurance and mental health assistance programs - inviting our audience to check out the list of Mental Health Apps that are recommended on the RBC site. Julie also takes a moment to reflect on her own personal mental health challenges, which is a powerful reminder that even those who are helping often also struggle. Kenisha and Griffin then talk with Humboldt Broncos alum, Tyler Smith who speaks firsthand about his recovery from the tragic bus accident that shook the nation, and shares his experiences on the road to being able to publicly talk about the effects of mental health, not just one on one, and on his podcast, but in front of large crowds of people. It’s an incredible story of resilience that will stick with our listeners for a long time.

The Future of Work
In The (K)now
11/21/22 • 27 min
The employment landscape is constantly changing. So which jobs have staying power? And which jobs are soon to be gone? Kenisha and Griffin intend to help our audience get those answers. Starting with a chat with Senior Manager, HR Strategy - Future of Work RBC, Connie Chung.Connie advises that people are switching career paths now more than ever, so get ready to be open-minded - where you start will almost certainly not be where you finish. Also, choose a job you have a passion for, not just a way of making money. Speaking of a job with passion, the Poet Laureate of Ontario Randell Adjei joins the show, to let us know about the very cool and unique career path that he’s been on, leaving our audience with a performance they will absolutely love. Maybe becoming a poet isn’t a possibility for everyone, but this interview will get you thinking of creative careers and fields for you.

The Launch
In The (K)now
10/11/22 • 27 min
As this exciting new podcast begins we get to know our hosts, Kenisha and Griffin as they dive into some uncharted territory for the both of them - the financial world and all that it has to offer. They kick things off with a conversation with Senior Manager, Transformation & Innovation Technology & Operations, RBC, Patrick Famaran - who explains how he ended up working at the bank by following the lead of a Facebook job posting. Patrick offers plenty of advice for people looking to work in his field, including a student internship program that he encourages our audience to check out. Kenisha and Griffin follow this with Emerging Artist Josh Sahunta, who shares what it takes to be creative as a musician, but also what it takes to stay organized when you are a freelancer working as your own boss and employee -spoiler alert -it’s a very full and colourful calendar in your phone! Josh is a delight who leaves us with his great new track, This Party Sucks. It seems you never know where this podcast will go, and that’s the way Griffin and Kensiha like it.
