In the Cab with Dream Queen

In the Cab with Dream Queen

Dream Queen

In The Cab Radio is a multi-media project that incorporates storytelling and music for fun, collective healing and discourse.

"In the Cab with Dream Queen" is a two-hour radio show which airs live Saturday mornings, 8AM-10AM MT on KMRD-LP. The vibe is music peppered with musings on personal growth, social justice, self-awareness and actualization, from a perspective rooted in Revolutionary Love acted out by the Collective (that's us). I bring hope in the dark light of mourning with a soundtrack consisting of old and new school artists who inspire us with their lyrics and grooves: Funk, Soul, R&B, Pop, Hip-Hop, and Rock. Due to music licensing, we can only provide the talk portion of the show for podcasting. Please check our linktree for full show archives.

"In The Cab On The Road" is where we take the show on the road, collecting stories, photos and videos of everyday folks out in the world doing beautiful things. The mission is to bring us closer together, maybe even heal us up a bit.

Dream Queen is a seeker, who currently exists in a Black-American, non-gender-conforming meat suit. I believe our vulnerability in sharing wisdom across cultures can help bring us together, and elevate all life and this planet.

Thanks for rollin'!

ITC Book Club continues with "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." with sermon number 6, “Guidelines for a Constructive Church.” I take this one on, solo. From what I gather of the text, Rev. King lays out the primary role of the church is to receive the broken hearted and heal them. I also had some revelations of my own: We are the 3rd. We are each Saviors, the Children of Mother/Father GOD here to elevate the human condition and consciousness. Think about it... take a trip with me.

ITC Book Club continues with "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." with “Why Jesus Called A Man A Fool.” Dr. King uses a parable of Jesus confronting a miser. There is hubris, isolation, and the will to overcome it. This is also the episode where I share my initial awareness of "Project 2025." We got a lot of work to do, y'all. We got this.

In the Cab with Dream Queen - ITC 08-10-24 Book Club: "A Knock At Midnight:" "Unfulfilled Dreams"
play

08/29/24 • 37 min

We continue the In The Cab book club's review of "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr." This week's sermon is "Unfulfilled Dreams." Dr. King tackles the difficult subject of realizing that one's dreams may not necessarily come to fruition. He reassures us with a passage from I Kings: "...thine did well because it was in thine heart." It seems as if the reverend knew that he would not see the seeds he planted bear fruit, like many of us in our short lifetimes. He carries us with his words through harsh possibilities, while comforting us that it is enough that our work is done with grace, purpose and vision for the sake of goodness.

ITC Book Club continues with "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." with “The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life.” Dr. King breaks it down like this: the length of a life is the inward concern; the breadth of a life is the concern for others; and the height of a life is one’s reach toward God. King also acknowledges that there are many ways to conceive of God, and theoretical versus practical atheism. No matter what one’s belief system, it is meaningful and essential food for thought. I welcome back Little Queen Trash Mouth ("The Hatch Attack Hours" KMRD-LP 10A-12N Fridays) to talk more about the 5th sermon in "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration From the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr," entitled "The American Dream." We needed two episodes for this, and here's the second. In it, we discuss the sacrifices made by "revolutionaries" in the quest for Liberation, the non-violent student movement on college campuses demanding divestment going on globally at the moment, and of course, we read from Dr. King's text. I welcome back Little Queen Trash Mouth ("The Hatch Attack Hours" KMRD-LP 10A-12N Fridays) to talk more about the 5th sermon in "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration From the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr," entitled "The American Dream." We needed two episodes for this, and here's part one. In it, LQTM and I try to unravel what the Untied States government even is, who the Declaration of Independence was written for, what was going on in the U.S. at the time this sermon was written. No spoilers, but Endless Wars and Capitalism. Join us for a jaunt though a nebulous past and an attempt to deconstruct the present.

We continue our discussion of "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr." with sermon number four, the titular sermon: “A Knock At Midnight.” Little Queen Trash Mouth joins me in the studio for another extended discussion. Topics range from King’s analogy of the “loaves” of faith, hope, and love, to the proposition of a Michelin space ballon diner to be built above Earth’s atmosphere, the “Secure DC Omnibus Amendment Act of 2024”, and we ask how to maintain hope in today’s world. Oof... We go all over the map on this one. Ride along and have a few laughs.

ITC Book Club continues with Kahlil Gibran's "The Prophet," Chapter 3, "On Marriage.” The seer Almitra asks the prophet to speak on marriage, to which he replies, “Love one another, but make not a bond of love...” I explore the idea that one plus one equals three when it comes to relationship math. Trust, and the commitment to the “spiritual growth” of one’s self and the other are among topics discussed here.
