In the Cab with Dream Queen

ITC Book Club continues with "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." with sermon number 6, “Guidelines for a Constructive Church.” I take this one on, solo. From what I gather of the text, Rev. King lays out the primary role of the church is to receive the broken hearted and heal them. I also had some revelations of my own: We are the 3rd. We are each Saviors, the Children of Mother/Father GOD here to elevate the human condition and consciousness. Think about it... take a trip with me.

ITC Book Club continues with "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." with “Why Jesus Called A Man A Fool.” Dr. King uses a parable of Jesus confronting a miser. There is hubris, isolation, and the will to overcome it. This is also the episode where I share my initial awareness of "Project 2025." We got a lot of work to do, y'all. We got this.

We continue the In The Cab book club's review of "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr." This week's sermon is "Unfulfilled Dreams." Dr. King tackles the difficult subject of realizing that one's dreams may not necessarily come to fruition. He reassures us with a passage from I Kings: "...thine did well because it was in thine heart." It seems as if the reverend knew that he would not see the seeds he planted bear fruit, like many of us in our short lifetimes. He carries us with his words through harsh possibilities, while comforting us that it is enough that our work is done with grace, purpose and vision for the sake of goodness.

ITC Book Club continues with "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration from the Great Sermons of Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr." with “The Three Dimensions of a Complete Life.” Dr. King breaks it down like this: the length of a life is the inward concern; the breadth of a life is the concern for others; and the height of a life is one’s reach toward God. King also acknowledges that there are many ways to conceive of God, and theoretical versus practical atheism. No matter what one’s belief system, it is meaningful and essential food for thought. Join me.

I welcome back Little Queen Trash Mouth ("The Hatch Attack Hours" KMRD-LP 10A-12N Fridays) to talk more about the 5th sermon in "A Knock At Midnight: Inspiration From the Great Sermons of Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr," entitled "The American Dream." We needed two episodes for this, and here's the second. In it, we discuss the sacrifices made by "revolutionaries" in the quest for Liberation, the non-violent student movement on college campuses demanding divestment going on globally at the moment, and of course, we read from Dr. King's text.
