A haunting voice appears on Erith’s tape recorder, but does it convey a cautionary message or a threat? In the classroom, the Instructor informs Erith and Calyx why certain individuals are chosen to become Polished. Calyx confides in Erith that that he may be progressing into the next stage. Terrified, he seeks answers, as Erith discovers the new voice speaking to her in her sleep.

She has been diagnosed with Light Sickness and will be paired with another Polished, Calyx, to help her adjust to this unfamiliar state. The process isn’t easy however, as new sounds and sights begin to plague her senses, challenging her perception of what is real and illusionary.
