Paul Barnett Interview | Games Workshop Studio Stories
In Conversation with Jordan Sorcery
08/27/24 • 73 min
Paul Barnett was a key creative lead in the creation of Warhammer Online and when we got together to chat, Paul had some terrific legends to share from behind the scenes at Games Workshop.
We talked about some of the most interesting anecdotes collected from Paul’s time working with the greatest Warhammer creators and the stories they shared over beers and years. The origins of the Chaos Dwarfs, grumpiness in the design studio, and the fabled Bryan Ansell memos make for some incredible tales!

Peter Darvill-Evans | Games Workshop Interview
In Conversation with Jordan Sorcery
10/26/24 • 69 min
Author and former Games Workshop board member Peter Darvill-Evans in conversation with Jordan Sorcery.
Games Workshop and White Dwarf have a long history dating back to days before Warhammer Fantasy even existed. Under the tenure of co-founders Steve Jackson and Sir Ian Livingstone GW was the European importer of the new roleplaying game Dungeons & Dragons, the UK publisher of multiple RPGs from companies like Chaosium, and the retailer for all manner of tabletop games and distractions.
By the mid-80s the founders would leave to concentrate on gamebook adventures for Fighting Fantasy, whilst a boardroom battle determined the order of succession and the shift for Games Workshop from selling everyone’s games, to focusing on their own creations manufactured in Nottingham.
My guest today joined Games Workshop in those early days, working in the first retail store before managing the entire retail operation. He contributed to White Dwarf, played in Ian & Steve’s band, wrote some Fighting Fantasy adventures of his own, created the Dr Who RPG and published many Dr Who books, and he was even a member of the board during that stressful succession.

Sacha Lightfoot | Indie RPG Designer
In Conversation with Jordan Sorcery

Ronin is a Mork Borg compatible RPG that brings the samurai and yokai of mediaeval Japan to life on the table top. Featuring stunning, high energy, high octane art and graphic design, and a solid fast paced ruleset it is no surprise that the game, and its publisher - Slightly Reckless Games - are building a following.
I got the chance to sit speak with Sacha Lightfoot, founder of Slightly Reckless Games, and creator of Ronin, about the art and business behind starting an RPG publisher and writing a brand new game. With the next SRG game, Berserkr, coming to Kickstarter it felt like the perfect time to chat.

Working with highly technical materials and technologies Anthony Epworth has been at the cutting edge of the art and science of miniature making since joining Citadel in the 80s.
Sharing stories about his time at Citadel and Games Workshop, Bryan Ansell's Foundry, and working with Perry Miniatures, Anthony speaks about the methods behind the miniatures, the culture at Games Workshop, working on Warhammer and 40k, and what it was like when they were all younger playing historical wargames with Richard Halliwell and Rick Priestley after school.
