I'm Not Ovaryacting

I'm Not Ovaryacting

Emily Perrott

Join me, Emily Pastrana, a pelvic floor doctor of physical therapy, birth doula & yoga instructor as I talk about the stuff nobody else wants to. If you've been told that peeing yourself is just "life after pregnancy" or that sex is painful for you because "you aren't trying enough," this is for you. If you have no freaking clue how to do a kegel or you can't figure out why your cesarean scar still bothers you, this is for you. I want you to know that while these things are common, they're not normal. Let's talk about it. All of it.

Sleep is a tricky topic. And to put it frankly, I don't care what the sleep habits are in your house - granted I do encourage you to be safe. If your sleep schedule works for YOU, then that is truly all that matters. That said, there are a lot of false narratives out there about what it means to "sleep train" and that's what we're clearing up today. If you sleep train your baby, does it mean that you'll have to let them cry it out? Can you sleep train if you're a mama on the go? Taylor fills me in on all things sleep, and it was such an important conversation to have! I encourage you to find Taylor on Instagram @taylorwalterssleep where she posts all sorts of sleep fun facts!

I bring my best friend, Anne Kauffman, on to the show to discuss fatphobia in pregnancy. She is courageous enough to share some of her personal experiences with us while we share with you how we navigate our friendship and the ways we've grown as friends by addressing fatphobia head on. Please know that we do discuss body image, BMI, fat-shaming, etc. and understand that these topics may be triggering for some of our listeners. Our hope is that listeners will open their minds and hearts as we discuss these difficult topics and ways to create a safer and happier space for people of size. Hello and welcome to I am not ovary acting

I am your host, Emily Pastrana. I am a pelvic floor physical therapist, birth doula and yoga instructor

I made this podcast because I am down to talk about the stuff nobody else wants to. In season 1, we’ll be tackling topics like periods, peeing yourself postpartum, painful sex, hormone replacement therapy, prenatal wellness, what the hell a kegel actually is and so much more. I won’t be doing it alone, I’ll be bringing along some colleges to help me out along the way.

You’ll be getting real evidence-based information, unfiltered and I am sure there will be a lot of laughs along the way.

We’ve come to normalize our body’s complications instead of normalizing getting help for them. I want to change that.

Wherever you are, whatever you’re dealing with - you are not alone. You always have a seat at my table. Let’s do this.
