This Black Dermatologist Migrated To The U.S. and Lived Out Her Impossible Dream | Dr Rosemarie Ingleton
I Am Black Success®
05/29/17 • 48 min
Dr Rosemarie Ingleton is often referred to as the dermatologist to the stars. She's the go-to authority on all-things dermatology in the media, as well as in New York City social circles and industries such as fashion, beauty, music, and the arts. She is featured regularly on television shows such as Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, The Today Show and The Doctors, and in magazines such as Glamour, Vogue, People Style Watch, InStyle, Elle, Essence, Town and Country and Real Simple.
In today's interview, we discussed her journey from her early years growing up in Jamaica, through her migration to the United States and how she lived out an impossible dream of becoming a dermatologist and business owner in Manhattan.
A few of the questions I asked Dr. Ingleton:
- Let's talk about the challenges you had starting your business... as I understood it, you had no money, no formal business plan and no business training?
- What were the necessary foundation pieces for your success back then?
- I'd love to understand your day to day and what you're doing today that helps to set you apart and continues to fuel this success you're experiencing?
- Could you talk about some good processes or practices for us to follow while we navigate our 'rough' years?
- Why living a healthy lifestyle and taking care of your skin is so important to you?

From Success to Significance | Stephen A. Hart
I Am Black Success®
12/02/19 • 56 min
Today, I lift my head and I see this seed that I planted over 200 weeks ago. And I didn’t just plant it and leave it. No, I watered, nurtured and cared for this podcast (my baby) each and every week. Not a Monday morning at 5am went by that I didn’t have an episode going live for you in nearly 4 years. And today, we celebrate yet another amazing milestone in episode 200.
There are so many of you who over the years have shared a DM or a WhatsApp, a text, a post or a tweet or a 5 star review and in whatever way you did that and given me a big ups, you’ve let me know you care and that you’re listening. And I can’t tell you just how much I value and appreciate every last one of those notes and messages.
My call to action today is to move from a pursuit of success to that of significance because what we are leaving, matters! What we leave will impact others ... for good or bad.

Black Women: Health Justice | Part 4 of 4
I Am Black Success®
03/27/23 • 38 min
We are not short on horror stories of racial disparities in medicine. We saw this most recently during the early days of the pandemic, when Black and brown communities were absolutely devastated by Covid-19. And even beyond the pandemic, health disparities and inequity for people of color persist.
Our guest today is Dr. Oni Blackstock. Dr. Oni Blackstock is recognized as a thought leader and influencer in the areas of HIV and health equity. She is a primary care and HIV physician and the founder and Executive Director of Health Justice, a racial and health equity consulting firm, that helps health care and public health organizations to center anti-racism in the workplace and to reduce health inequities in the communities they service.
She previously served as Assistant Commissioner at the New York City Health Department where she led the City’s response to the HIV epidemic. Prior to that, she was Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of General Internal Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center where she led and conducted research to develop and test interventions to promote HIV prevention and treatment. She holds degrees from Harvard College, Harvard Medical School, and Yale School of Medicine.
Dr. Blackstock is passionate about ensuring that all individuals and communities have the resources and support they need to thrive and achieve optimal health and wellbeing.
Join our host for this #WomensHistoryMonth special series, Jennefer Witter, Founder and CEO of The Boreland Group, for this conversation with Dr. Blackstock.

Finding Balance in Your Passion | Craig The Barber®
I Am Black Success®
07/29/19 • 29 min
Know your why! Why are you passionate about what you're passionate about? And why do you want to make that a career?
Our guest is one of those people who inspired me to launch Trailblazers.FM and was one of our very first conversations on the podcast back on on episode 7, Craig The Barber®.
Craig the Barber is Hollywood’s top source for men’s grooming needs, a role he has held for more than 10 years. But the true story is that Craig unknowingly began his journey toward becoming a master barber all the way back at the age of 14 years-old. Craig’s belief that being a well-groomed man does not mean going overboard and that any guy can take charge of his style and appearance with the right guidance.
Craig is a true example of how following one’s passion will lead you to never “work” a day in your life because you will always love what you do. As he says himself, “Life is meant to be lived, not worked!”
