How to Survive Society - How to Survive Society With Max Friedman
play

07/18/23 • 28 min

Painful Joy, published in April 2022 and available on Amazon, represents five years of intensive research in the U.S., Poland, Sweden, Israel and Germany, by author Max Friedman, as he seeks to unearth and understand the real life stories of his parents, Sam and Frieda, two poor Polish Jews. In the process he discovers their roots, recreates their lives and times and uncovers both their remarkable journeys and painful secrets. Part memoir, part genealogical mystery and part history, the book is an absorbing, heartwarming and, at times, heartbreaking saga as readers accompany the author on his extraordinary exploration of the complicated relationship between two Holocaust survivors who meet in Sweden after their liberation from Bergen-Belsen, and experience the "painful joy" of a love too often touched by death. It explores questions of survival, the ability to reimagine memories in order to deal with the truth, and what it was like growing up in a world that was never to be "normal."

play

07/11/23 • 33 min

From being a former drug addict and divorced in late twenties to a pastor to losing his 17- year-old son in a tragic plane crash to inspiring people to be courageous humans. Clint have lived a very layered life. At 12 years old he faced living with a mother that suffered from suicidal ideation, which on two occasions almost cost him his own life. During his 20-year marriage together, Clint and his wife Amárillys have experienced a miscarriage and two sons born prematurely (Gabriel at 3 lbs 12 ozs & Liam at 1 lb 14 ozs) because of her life (and theirs) being threatened by a pregnancy disease. While giving birth to their middle son Joel, she had another close call as she had great difficulty waking up from the anesthesia. There have been many other scary moments and setbacks. There have also been some amazing experiences and victories!
All of these challenges helped prepare Clint for the greatest blow of losing his oldest son to tragedy. There are foundational mindsets, values, and character traits he have lived by that have empowered him (and his family) to be resilient and thrive again no matter what life throws at them.
Clint's mission is to develop Courageous Humans that desire to live Inspiring Lives!

How to Survive Society - How to Survive Society with Sean Robinson
play

05/30/23 • 30 min

Sean is a 38 year old husband and father of three young children. He has worked as a construction electrician and as a volunteer firefighter for 20 years and was certain he had become the person he was supposed to be. A bi-product of the industries he worked in, influenced by generations of tough, masculine, dominant men, it was his belief that he couldn't do anything to change it. It wasn't until he started to challenge himself to be different and to allow new things into his life that he hadn't tried before, did he find that he wasn't stuck. He could be a more positive person, a better friend, nicer to himself and leave an aging mindset behind. Sean's first step was to take a break from drinking alcohol and has described this in his new book called Going Dry - My Path to Overcoming Habitual Drinking. In his book, he describes how journaling became his best tool, how we think more about the things we are doing or drinking than the people around us and what worked for him to get through some of the hardest moments he would face.
