Episode 63: True Crime Ethics
How To Not Get Killed
10/12/22 • 92 min
This episode is a super loosey goosey style one where we’re having an open discussion about the ethics of true crime. We figured it might be worth while to re-ground ourselves to remain respectful and remind us all about how to approach true crime in a non-offensive way. So we’re talking about some of the Do’s and Don’ts of true crime, how to remain respectful to victims and victims families, and how to go about maintaining your love of true crime without being disrespectful to those involved in the crimes discussed. We hope you enjoy this episode, because we definitely enjoyed record this one for y’all.

Episode 60: Hillside Stranglers Part 4
How To Not Get Killed
09/21/22 • 53 min
This multi-parter covers the wild 5 month long rein of terror the Hillside Stranglers brought upon Los Angeles in 1977-1978. In Part One we reviewed the backgrounds of Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono and follows their timeline up until encountering their first victim. Fair warning, this case is heavily centred around sexual violence, and is quite graphic. In Part Two we dive a little into their crimes. In Part three we finish off covering their crimes, and the begin to get into the aftermath. Part Four goes over all of the aftermath, touches on an individual who tried to kill in the name of the “Hillside Strangler” to help free Kenny Bianchi.

This week we’re covering the incredible survival story of 3 relentlessly resilient women who made their way through hell and back. We only hope to do justice to these three women. This is the story of the Cleveland Kidnappings that occurred to Michelle Knight, Amanda Berry and Gina DeJesus. Although this is a survival story, there is a lot of very heavy content to get through before the good part. These three women go on to help change the world for the better and are a shining example of how to turn a horrific situation into an opportunity.

Episode 19: Chamber Maid Slayer
How To Not Get Killed
11/10/21 • 51 min
This episode will be the first in our Bleeding London series. According to Michael Arntfield’s book Murder City, the city of London, Ontario, between the years of 1959-1984, was the murder capital of Canada, and arguably the world. There were up to 6 serial killers operating in London at any given time during this time frame. The series will tackle some of London’s most prolific serial killers. First on the docket is Gerald Thomas Archer, aka “The Chambermaid Slayer”. Archer had one of the most specific and consistent victimologies in serial killer history. He’s just the tip of the iceberg in this chilling series, and is only one small part of London’s dark and twisted past.
