Hi friends, welcome back!
This week our House Wine is Chateau Neuf du Pape and we will be looking into all the history, grapes and styles that make this wine region amazing. There are some characters here who put this wine region on the map so we go quite deep in to history on this episode. We also deep dive into the 18 Grapes than can be part of this blended wine.
I talk about a few producers here:
Chateau Beaucastel:

Famille Perrin:

Chapoutier:

Chateau Rayas:

For Sources, I used my very trusty Oxford Companion to Wine, 4th Edition. The World Atlas of Wine 8th Edition and also https://www.chateauneuf.dk/

Northern Rhone
Hi friends and welcome back!
Last week I err... spilled Sake all over my keyboard and lost my recordings, thankfully I only lost two! The good news is that I was due for an update and have brand new recording software, and I think it shows :)
So, sorry to everyone for the delay in episodes!
This week we are going to be digging into the Northern Rhone and getting a closer look at Syrah, Viognier, Rousanne and Marsanne. Along with some of the AOP's that make this these wines iconic.
Producers that I mentioned in this episode are:
Domaine Jamet:
http://www.cote-rotie-jamet.com/en/
Yves Cuilleron:
https://www.cuilleron.com/en/
Domaine du Coulet and Matthieu Barret:
http://domaineducoulet.com/domaine-du-coulet/
Guigal:
https://www.guigal.com/en/
Stephane Ogier:
http://www.stephaneogier.fr/
And as per usual I used two books by Jancis Robinson:
The Oxford Companion to Wine, 4th Edition
The World Atlas of Wine, 8th Edition.
House Wine is an independent podcast, if you want to support the show the best way to do that is like, subscribe and rate. An even better way to show your support is to tell a friend you love to drink wine with about it.
If you have a correction or episode request you can email me at [email protected] or get in touch @housewinepodcast on Instagram.
The art was done by Kelly Lauren and you can check her out on Instagram @klylauren
I hope you get to drink something delicious this week :)

The Southern Rhone
Welcome back! This week our house wines are from the Southern Rhone.
The Southern Rhone is an incredibly varied and diverse region with a lot going on. And we cover a lot of it in this episode. If you haven't checked out the episode last week about Chateauneuf du Pape, please give that a listen before this episode because we reference it quite a bit and it will provide a lot of context for the Cotes du Rhone, Gigondas and Vacqueras, and some of their less famous friend appellations.
We also go full in and talk about rosé and the sweet wines of Rasteau and Muscat Beaumes de Venice.
So if you have ever found yourself wondering what GSM is or how dry IS a dry rosé, then I can't wait to share this episode with you.
I used my favorite book, the Oxford Companion to Wine, 4th Edition by Jancis Robinson. i also looked at maps in the World Atlas of Wine 8th Edition, by Jancis Robinson. I also used the website https://www.chateauneuf.dk/ and Decanter Magazine.
If you are interested in any of the wines I talk about in this show:
Stephane Ogier:
http://www.stephaneogier.fr/
Chateau Trinquevedel:
https://www.chateau-trinquevedel.fr/en/
Chateau D'Esclans:
https://esclans.com/
Kirkland Brand Gigondas:
https://costcowineblog.com/2018-kirkland-signature-gigondas/
OK that last one has no website of it's own but there is a whole blog that just reviews Costco Wines.
This is an independent podcast, written, narrated and produced by me, Rachael so if you are going to do the Gigondas Pepsi challenge then make sure to review and rate and I will see you next week.
If you spotted a correction or would like to request and episode you can reach out at [email protected] or on instagram @housewinepodcast.
