Horror In Session

We're joined by special guest Gemma Hurley who co-wrote the acclaimed 2020 horror film, Host, to discuss her film and a cosmic horror she grew up with, Event Horizon (1997), which has a complicated history.

We're joined by Lindsay Traves, writer for Pajiba and co-host of The Pod and the Pendulum, to discuss the Universal Classic Monster film The Wolf Man (1941). This is a little bit longer episode than usual due to some casual chitchat we have about Saw and other things, but if you want to jump right into the film conversation, we start at about 44:40.

This week we're starting a new ongoing course returning to our roots to delve back into Universal's Classic Monsters. We discussed The Mummy (1932) highlighting Boris Karloff's extraordinary performance as well as its complicated and problematic representation of Egyptian culture.

We're back with another recess to discuss Carrie (1976) and to accompany the conversation we brought in Riverdale's "Carrie: The Musical" episode.
