Today we are so hoppy to be interviewing Holly, owner of Epidemic Ales! Holly tells us how she got started, and how they made it through the pandemic shutdown. We also get to hear about some amazing collaboration beers Epidemic will be releasing for SF Beer Week. Epidemic Ales is a majority woman owned brewery, and Holly is an amazing example of incorporating art and creativity, and the concept of "community" not "industry" that has really made Craft Beer an important part of so many communities.

You will notice release day is on the kickoff of SF Beer Week, so if you're listening today you're in time to grab each one of these collabs on the day they release (and to grab some Birria Tacos or a Birria Ramen from OG Tacos!). You can pick up each of these beers at the brewery on their release day (below), or if you're in California you can go to www.epidemicales.com, click on the Online Store button, and order these beers shipped right to your doorstep! All collaboration beers will be available on tap and in 16oz foursies to go.

If you have a chance please check out everyone we talk abhout and show them some love, and always say Yes! to the Hoppy Ending.

Hoppy Trails - HT013 - Over Seas Shenanigans - Matteo in Milan
play

06/30/23 • 94 min

This episode is a very exciting journey down the Hoppy Trail. First: We have a very special guest, Matteo from Milan Italy. Matteo talks to us about the growth of the Craft Beer movement in Italy, as well as current trends and developments. We talk about comparisons with craft beer in other regions, including the United States which Nick and I are most familiar with. Great information, and we learn about a very "exotic" food that is apparently quite normal in Italy and other parts of the world. Second: We have launched our YouTube channel! For now, it's just audio versions of the show with our logo as the visual, so feel free to share our past and current episodes with friends and family who may be more inclined to access it on YouTube instead of a podcatcher. Soon we'll be releasing specialized video content made for YouTube, like short interviews, longer cook videos with more instruction than our food reels, and other show related content. Each new episode will automatically release to the channel as well. Check it out! Finally: We will release our very first VIDEO version of the podcast on Patreon! (as soon as I can get the edited video to export!) To see our beautiful faces, including Matteo's beautiful face, become a patron for as low as $3 a month. We currently don't have any plans for releasing the video version of the show to YouTube in the near future, so the only way to look into our studios for full episodes will be to become a patron. We put a lot of work into this show, and currently fund it out of our own pockets. Help support the show so we can keep providing you the content you love, and we'll keep looking for creative ways to give back to those that support us! We have another special Trail Report from listener Billy Joseph Jr., this time out on the road talking to the owner of 12 Bones Brewing in Arden North Carolina. Check them out on Instagram: https://instagram.com/12bonesbrewing As always, we take some forks in the road, but we always make progress down the Hoppy Trail. Please go to https://patreon.com/HoppyTrailsPod and give us your money! It lets us produce additional content that's only for patrons, send out fun merch, and even release episodes early.

If you have a chance please check out everyone we talk about and show them some love, and shout them out on social media so they know where you heard about them! And Always remember to say Yes! to the Hoppy Ending!

We apologize for the late release. We had some crazy audio problems that we didn't find out about until Thursday night/Friday morning, which stopped us from releasing. We spent a lot of time recovering some lost audio, and we cleaned up what we had as much as we could, but this episode is not up to our normal audio quality standards and we're sorry for that. But hey, sometimes things happen when you're out there on the Hoppy Trail, and all you can do is roll with it and do your best to recover and keep on going!

In this episode we talk about a trip we made in person to Alvarado Street Brewing's newest location, Alvarado On Main in Salinas, CA. We had a blast and can't wait to tell you about it. Thanks Meg for making our visit super enjoyable, and we can't wait to tell everyone about where else we saw you on the Hoppy Trail in one of the next episodes!

We also have a special interview with Jeff from Hidden Hills Brewing and Blending, a great brewery we talked about a couple episodes ago. Jeff has an amazing history and some really great insights for homebrewers and craft beer lovers in general. We're so grateful to have had the opportunity to interview Jeff and can't wait to see him in person again.

As always, we take some forks in the road, but we always make progress down the Hoppy Trail. Please go to patreon.com/HoppyTrailsPod and give us your money! It lets us produce additional content that's only for patrons, send out fun merch, and even release episodes early (not this episode, sorry it's late!).

If you have a chance please check out everyone we talk about and show them some love, and shout them out on social media so they know where you heard about them! And Always remember to say Yes! to the Hoppy Ending!
