Many professional people don't like working with addicts, because they lie so much to cover up bad behaviors, but this is just a symptom of the disease and must be treated as such. Parents can help with prevention in their children by letting them know their genetic predisposition to addictions, by letting them suffer the consequences of their behaviors and by giving correct information about addiction in a calm, rational manner.
