Why Does God Let Things Happen?
In today's episode, we tackle the tough question that keeps many of us Christian women up at night: Why the heck does God let bad things happen, especially to good people?
I (Heather) open about my own struggles and doubts. I share a wonderful video on suffering from Ascension Presents Chosen Confirmation series (check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMCPW53-cGw). It's like a crash course for your soul on pain, suffering, and God's love from people who have suffered immense pain.
The answer: Bad things happen because God gave us free will, because He loves us. In order for us to love him back it has to be freely chosen by us, or else it's not real love its slavery. So in order for that love to be free we must also have the choice to choose to NOT love him (sin the word actually means "without", aka without God). Because we have the choice to choose him or not (sin) that also means we are subject to the just consequences of those sins. So bad things happen as a result of our own sin, being in the crosshairs of the sin of another, or because of original sin and the fact that our world isn't perfect (sickness, disease, pain, natural disaster, etc). 🌟
