Have you ever had a customer service experience so poor it made you vow never to return? I share a personal story about a disappointing visit to a local soda shop that lost me as a customer due to mishandling a simple complaint. But it’s not all bad news—tune in to hear heartwarming examples of exceptional service from a cherished local cafe, a cruise line that anticipates my every need, and a family camp in New Mexico that went above and beyond. These stories highlight how making customers feel seen, heard, and understood creates lasting loyalty and positive impressions far beyond product quality and pricing.
Inspired by well-known organizations, I delve into the importance of purposeful customer service training. Learn why investing in training your team to show exceptional customer service can transform your business by harnessing the unique gifts of each employee to serve others effectively. How to Start a Podcast
Holly's Highlights
11/01/22 • 31 min
2 years ago Holly’s Highlights podcast released. We have just released our 62 episode, have reached sponsorship level, have celebrated yet another goal with our listenership and even have listeners on every continent - how cool is that?! I never would have imagined that here I’d be two years into this, someone who honestly hadn’t even listened to podcasts, and I am absolutely LOVING it! 😍
Although my podcast came into fruition as result of pre-planning for my book to be published, there are many reasons podcasts are created:
- promote your brand, product or services
- share about a topic you are passionate about
- position yourself as an expert or authority in your industry
- to increase your audience for other avenues
- create community
- or perhaps just because it's fun!
Unfortunately only 32% of podcasts make it to their 1st to 3rd year. There are 55% of Americans who listened to podcasts, 51% of those are males, and 79% tend to listen to podcasts while commuting. The most popular age group listening to podcasts? Ages 35-54.
Now, if you have learned anything from me I hope it’s the importance of having a growth mindset. So, today we have Meredith Hackwith Edwards, host of Meredith for Real podcast, with us on Holly's Highlights podcast to help us learn the ins and outs of starting a podcast.
Take Aways:
- steps to starting your own podcast
- equipment suggestions to help you excel
- suggestions of where to host your show
- podcasting distribution links vs. you tube podcasting
- how to reach your audience, promote your show, and build your reach
- what sponsorships look like
- hacks and tips to relieve the stress of podcasting
We know that starting something new can be scary! But overall, remember that when God calls you to something, do it! No matter the unknowns, the fears, the insecurities nor the investments - where He leads, He’ll provide and bless too.
Again, on this 2nd anniversary of Holly’s Highlights podcast I just want to say - Thank you! Thank you for supporting the show by listening. Thank you to the amazing guests who have invested time and shared their talent to help us all learn and grow. And thank you sponsors for making this possible. If you’d like to learn more about sponsorship send me a message at [email protected].
I welcome you to share the podcast with your friends, neighbors, coworkers and family. I would value your rating and comments wherever you listen to podcasts (apple podcasts, overcast, spotify, the list goes on). And I always welcome your feedback on topics you’d like to learn about and/or people you’d like to learn from on Holly’s Highlights podcast.
It truly is a pleasure getting to encourage, inspire, and equip others to intentionally live their life full of purpose - thank you for doing just that in my life too!

How to Have a Happy and Healthy Marriage
Holly's Highlights
08/23/22 • 19 min
Now, I love a good romantic movie, but I gotta tell ya - never have I seen such a love story as my parents. Today would have been my parents' 54th wedding anniversary (my mom passed away almost 3 years ago to cancer).
Unfortunately, our society has gone from our grandparents being married 75+ years, to our parents maybe celebrating their 50th as my parents did, to my generation (Gen X) only having 48% of marriages surviving. As divorce rates are on the rise for the Millennials, it’s the new Gen Z who have exchanged marriage for simply living together.
So today, I thought we’d take a look at tips of how to have a healthy and happy marriage from someone who seems to have gotten it right - my dad. Now I wish this could be an interview with both my parents today, but I am grateful to both of them for their faithfulness to each other and God through their marriage, to where I have the safety, security, and legacy they have shown and are leaving to us kids and our kids - of what marriage was intended to look like - - -one that is selfless, team work minded, fun, full of laughter and adventure through life, supportive, forgiving, self-controlling, thriving, encouraging, serving, and basically one that stood the test of time.

5 Must-Reads for Personal Growth and Development
Holly's Highlights
05/31/22 • 13 min
Planning a summer getaway and need a good book for the beach, or that long car or plane ride, or perhaps some reading material for lounging in the hammock at home? I'd love to share with you on Holly's Highlights podcast five must reads for personal growth/development.
Now, for our non-readers, before I lose you here - might I encourage you to just give it a try. Whether it be 10 pages a day or 10 minutes a day. I wasn't a reader eithr - believe it or not, I still wouldn't claim to be a reader. I'm more of an achiever and I like how with books you can start and finish something all while learning and growing at the same time - we'll call that a win!
But there are different ways to get engaged and learn from a good book - whether reading it, listening to it on audio, or even getting involved in a book club for more discussion and perhaps ideas of application from what you read. It helps though if you are reading a book you actually enjoy - so give yourself permission to stop reading a book you aren't liking so much. I personally mark up and write and highlight all inside the books I read - the more notes I make in a book - the more you can tell I enjoyed it.
So, let's pretend you and I are enjoying our favorite beverage together while sitting at a bistro table at the local cafe - and let's take less than fifteen minutes to chat about five must reads for personal growth and development.
