088: Introducing the Sacred Spaces Series with Jessica and Taylor of Madouk Collection
03/09/23 • 41 min
This week, I kick off the first episode in our Sacred Spaces Series with Jessica and Taylor, the co-founders of Madouk Collection. These two college friends share their story with us, including how they found themselves living and working in Morocco, where they became close with the local artisans in Essaouira. Their business now supports these artisans directly and brings their beautiful rugs into more homes. We talk about the importance of knowing where your products are coming from, and why you should choose items that are made sustainably. We’ll get more into their process in future episodes in this series, but this episode will introduce you to them and their philosophy.

087: The First Step to Creating an Interior Design Business
In this solo episode, I’m sharing the first step to creating an interior design business, which is establishing your values. I use the values I created for the Design Coven as an example and offer tips to help you develop your own.
One value I talk about is building relationships, and I’m hosting an event on March 16 that will help designers do just that. The Design Connection a speed dating-style event to connect designers with design firms. Learn more about it here.
And if you want some support as you define your values, connect with Chantelle at Clear Quartz Creative. You can also listen to my interview with Chantelle on Episode 34.

089: Creating Beautiful Landscapes with Troy Silva of MoNA Life
I’m excited to welcome our first Landscape Architect, Troy Silva, to the podcast this week. Working with natural elements in both our own homes and those of our clients can make a significant difference, and Troy shares some stories from his experience that demonstrate that. He explains how he discovered his passion and why it was important for him to build a less traditional business that works for him and his clients.
Guest Bio
Troy is a compassionate, generous, and resilient person. Since graduating from Cornell University with a degree in Landscape Architecture with emphasis in Environmental Psychology, Troy has gained two decades of experience designing and creating dream worlds for people across the globe.
Ultimately, he’s inspired by nature and fueled by uplifting others. He’s also a great chef and a total plant geek. Some think he’s the real life Dr. Dolittle because his ability to sense the needs of plants and animals is just that uncanny!
