10/21/19 • 41 min
In our current timeline, the decade known as the 80’s(January 1st, 1980 - December 31st, 1989) was defined by the tensions of the world’s super powers, technological advancement, a major shift in the global economy, and complete and utter excess. The combination of these events serve as a catalyst to many great stories and even more intriguing what ifs...
Our story starts in the year 1986, a college basketball player named Len Bias is deemed the most “complete and talented” forward ready to enter the NBA. He is compared to Michael Jordan, an athlete later referred to as one of the “Greatest of all Time”. Bias was drafted 2nd overall by the Boston Celtics and the potential “generational” talent’s professional career was over 2 days later when he was found dead in his dorm room due to cocaine-related heart arrhythmia. For years the legend of Len Bias and his potential has been discussed by experts and fans.
In today’s episode, History’s What If hosts the Doctor and the Professor welcome special guest Nick Gelso from CLNS Media to the studio to discuss this new timeline with the help of our “6th Man” PUG. Listen as we discuss Len’s potential and impact in the NBA. Ask yourselves these questions, do Michael Jordan and the Bulls become the dominant dynasty and one of the most storied teams in all sport’s history? Or do the Boston Celtics and Len Bias change that? What impact does 2 “generational” talents going head-to-head in their primes have on the league and the game worldwide? Listen in as we discuss all this and more on another episode of History’s What If...
