Did you know that some people find Thanksgiving controversial? They believe to celebrate this holiday, or the Pilgrims associated with it, is a celebration of genocide. They think it should be replaced by a "National Day of Mourning" according to The Daily Signal's Jarrett Stepman. Today, in a special Thanksgiving episode we read Stepman's article about why America's future depends on the celebration of Thanksgiving. P.S. Make sure you catch the end of the show, you don't want to miss Tim in "feast" mode.

Heritage Explains - LIVE: Biden's Supply Chain Crisis
play

10/21/21 • 24 min

Supply chain issues in conjunction with rising prices continue to clear shelves, idle factories, and take a toll on the wallets of working Americans. The Biden administration falsely insists these problems are transitory and blames the pandemic or the people trying to fix the problems. But this crisis is here to stay as long as the administration continues to push policies that make it worse. On this episode of Heritage Explains Live, we talk with Heritage trade economist Tori Smith. She breaks down the basics, catches us up on where things currently stand, and takes your questions. Heritage Explains - BONUS | Sen. Josh Hawley on China and Ukraine
play

05/17/23 • 40 min

One of the more contentious points currently being debated in foreign policy today is the relationship of the United States to the conflict in between Russia and Ukraine. Many see parallels between the current situation between Russia and Ukraine and that between China and Taiwan, as we talked about in the series. Some say that the United States should be more active in the war in Ukraine, others less. What you’re about to hear are remarks from Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri, entitled China and Ukraine: A time for truth, presented here at the Heritage Foundation in February of 2023. In this talk, he argues for a foreign policy that focuses more on Taiwan, and less on Ukraine.

Welcome to a bonus episode of Heritage Explains! We are looking forward to bringing you a new series starting on June 7, but in the next few weeks, we want to keep delivering you the best content to keep you informed about the important issues facing our country. In keeping with the series we just finished, six episodes on the threat of the Chinese Communist party, we are bringing you some bonus episodes, focusing on parts of the China story that we may have only covered tangentially or what to spend more time on.

First up, an episode on the quiet killer that has taken the lives of thousands of Americans per year for the last several years: fentanyl. Since 2014, we’ve seen continuous, disturbing growth in the number of deaths due to overdose from synthetic opioids, most of them fentanyl. For this bonus episode, we’re pulling in a conversation from the Daily Signal Podcast which originally aired in January of this year, between our reporter Samantha Aescheris and Derek Maltz, a veteran of the Drug Enforcement Administration and expert on fentanyl.
