HER HOME & HEART / Simplifying Routines to Reduce Overwhelm for Christian Homeschool Moms

Feeling like you're drowning in a sea of to-dos? We've all been there! Battling anxiety, wrestling with whispering doubts, and trying to homeschool special needs kids?

**This podcast is your secret weapon. **

Today I’ll give you a life changing tip. It’s not a magic schedule or a productivity hack, but a way to shift your mindset and find joy in the chaos, even with those pesky doubts buzzing around.

This episode is all about celebrating tiny wins and making 1% shifts to transform your home and homeschool from messy mayhem to joyfulness amidst the chaos.

Let's ditch the "to-do" drama and embrace the "done" list! Celebrate those small victories: folding a basket of laundry, squeezing in a hug, navigating meltdowns (and still getting through a math lesson!), or simply being present with your family. Every triumph deserves a cheer.

Remember, mamas, you're not in a sprint. We're on a beautiful, messy marathon! ✨ Celebrate the little things, make those 1% shifts (like a pilot tweaking his flight plan, and very much in the Charlotte Mason style of creating good habits!), and trust that tiny steps lead to big joy with your amazing kids.

Bonus tips:

Take deep breaths! ‍♀️ It helps reduce stress and aligns your whole body. (My physical therapist's wisdom!)

Remember Isaiah 28:10: "Precept upon precept, line upon line, here a little, there a little." We build our family goals slowly, step by step.

Join the Facebook group! Share your 1% shifts and connect with other families on this journey. ❤️

Level up your support: Consider the Greater Honor Special Needs Family Membership for expert advice, real-life connections, and monthly meetups.

You got this, mama!

I'm cheering you on every step of the way.

See you next week!

XOXO,
Katie

230 // Calming Chaos: Practical Steps for Easing Daily Overwhelm in Special Needs Homeschooling

Ever feel like your days are a whirlwind of homeschooling schedules, therapy appointments, and navigating the unique joys and challenges of raising special needs children? You're not alone. Today, I have something truly special to share – a heartfelt interview of myself with Tim Maudlin, the host of Anchors of Encouragement podcast. In this episode, you'll pull up a cozy chair alongside us as I open up about my family's journey. It's a story filled with love, laughter, and many moments of overwhelm – but above all, it's a testament to the incredible resilience and grace found within families like yours and mine.

Together, we'll discuss the realities faced by parents like us: the stress, the financial juggle, the endless therapies, and the emotional weight that comes with nurturing special needs children and offer a beacon of hope.

I discuss the systems Steve and I have implemented to bring order to the chaos, a practical roadmap you can adapt to your own journey. Tim and I also discuss the power of understanding each child's unique developmental stage, and how this insight transforms the way you approach their education and emotional needs. Learn how to actively involve your children in creating a harmonious family dynamic, and pick up invaluable tips for building a nurturing environment where everyone thrives.

We share how a deep connection to God offers a powerful anchor amidst the storms, reminding us of the immense grace available to us all. And there still even more goodness in here!

So, my friend, grab your favorite beverage, settle in, and enjoy this conversation with Tim that is filled with wisdom, love, and grace.

XOXO,
Katie

232 // Overwhelmed as a Tired or Introverted Parent? Quick Tips to THRIVE NOW with Little By Little Homeschool

Have you ever felt like you are just too tired or too introverted for this homeschooling journey that you're on?
But you know you actually long to thrive and enjoy it, you want to look back and realize you've created beautiful memories in your life and your children's lives!

I remember the days of being a new homeschool mom. My kids were little, and it was a journey I hadn't anticipated. And I wished so much that there was somebody who could help me see the vision of what homeschooling could be for my family. Someone who would have been able to help me not fear. I wished for someone to model this life to me.

How could we balance a life where we homeschooled, did all the "mom stuff" and possibly even took on some side work or hobbies? I wanted someone to show me, "How do we do the food here? What's a snapshot like of the teenage season? Can you help me learn how to control mom anger?"
I really wanted to understand these things. But I didn't know anybody I could talk to.

If YOU are READY to learn these things that I wanted to know so badly at the beginning of my journey, or you just want some encouragement through hearing two veteran homeschool moms talk about how it's all worked out in the end for us.... this is a great episode for you.

I'm talking with Leigh from Little By Little Homeschool. She is a precious friend and fellow podcaster. She and I share our hearts and our experiences from the nearly decade and a half of homeschooling we have each done. Collectively think we've got almost 30 years under our belts.

Grab your warm laundry and ear buds, and let's have a heart to heart!
XOXO,
Katie
