What if we had the ability to undo things we’ve done in our lives? The power to go back and fix things that went horribly wrong might be something we all wish we had from time-to-time. In Elliot’s case, at least as far as he sees it, he’s burdened with having to try to undo a hack so effective that it brought down the world economy. He even goes so far as to take a job at E-Corp. Almost in tandem with the hack that Elliot made happen — the 5/9 hack — we have a scenario where China and the United States are lockstep in a battle of sorts over what will now become the dominant currency. They’re not talking about dollars or yen — the currencies at loggerheads with worldwide stakes are cryptocurrencies, namely E-Corp E-Coin and the very real-world BitCoin. China is backing BitCoin in this dystopian society and E-Corp is having none of that.
