A PUBLIC FIGHT between the Liberal and National parties in WA has created an opportunity for shooters to regain some of the ground they lost in recent times against the state’s draconian gun laws.

After making it clear that the National Party will not form a coalition government with the Liberals unless it committed to repealing the new laws, Liberal leader, Libby Mettam, held a media conference to refute the claim.

However, sources from both sides of parliament have described her move as ‘train wreck’, leaving several Liberal MPs at odds with their leader.

IN THIS EPISODE, we take you through that fight, and why the Liberals best hope for next year’s WA State Election is to dump their current leader.

If the cards fall the right way, this could create a significant opportunity for shooters to retaliate against the Cook Government – and wind back the clock on what has been happening.

A win in the west would send a key message to shooters in other states – but getting there will require a bit of luck in having things line up that way.

We also suggest shooters check out WA journo, Ben Harvey’s, take on the state’s gun policy shamble. Check it out - from the 2:40 mark by clicking here:

play

01/03/25 • 63 min

WE LOOK at the world of selling and buying firearms online – and even how non-tech savvy dealers can now set up their own online storefront.

We talk about social media bans on dealers – and how one creative dealer is reaching shooters in their own way.

We also look at gun shows – and the amazing Owen Gun Museum in Gympie.

AMONG THE KEY EVENTS TO LOOK FORWARD TO THIS YEAR is the Brisbane Firearms Expo in May.

The prospectus is available, so if you’re an exhibitor from anywhere in Australia, check it out today.See the links below.

We look at the enduring problem with WA – and why shooters everywhere need to be reminded of the need to get political if they want to be able to keep shooting. That’s something we’ll help you do – just make sure you subscribe to our content – find out how below.

PLUS WE FIND a good use for Teslas, which no self-respecting shooter should be caught dead in. Here’s a hint: bonfire.

WE LOST our semi-autos. Then our lever-action shotguns. Now they want our pump-action rifles.

PLUS, Victoria is set to ban bolt-action shotguns.

In this podcast with Graham Park, Shooters Union Australia, we look at where this is going - and what we need to do about it to stop these bans in their tracks.

The big question is, how do we do that?

Can we do that? We believe we can. It's going to take years of consistent and concerted work to get there, but we're in this for the long haul.

If you like that idea, get with the strength. Become a subscriber here.

TASMANIANS GO TO THE POLLS on March 23. If that's you, do you know which way you're going to vote?

Both Labor and the Liberals have promised to give antique collectors a break. It's the first time both sides of politics have come up with pro-gun positions for quite a longtime - but can they be trusted?

WE INTERVIEW local shotgun legend, Cheryl Arnol, about the promises and the caveats that come with them. We look at previous broken promises and the fundamental problem with the way firearm laws in Tasmania are structured.

WE ALSO start to dig a bit deeper on an issue that we're going to push hard this year, which is the difference between the "Guns and Crime" narrative used by politicians and the "Guns and Sport" narrative that they should be using - and why it's so important to the future of the shooting sports.

You can read about the Labor / Liberals commitments as they affect antique collectors by clicking here.

QUEENSLAND ELECTION: Make sure you vote properly

Gun News Australia: the latest news for Aussie shooters

play

10/23/24 • 20 min

WITH QUEENSLAND VOTERS going to the polls this weekend, we look at why shooters up north need to back pro-gun parties such as Katters Australian Party and One Nation ahead of the majors.

Even if you don’t have that choice, you can still put the LNP ahead of Labor and the Greens – which is the best way of sending a message to the Labor government that they need to put more effort into looking after shooters.

This advice is in line with the information being put out by Shooters Union Australia, and with the problems that shooters around the nation are having with wall-to-wall Labor governments, with Tasmania and the NT being the exceptions.

You can see the Shooters Union Australia’s voting advice at: https://shootersunion.com.au/

We also cover the case of the ‘exploding guns’, and the $50,000 donation by SSAA WA to The Nationals.

WA’S NEW SAFE REQUIREMENTS: Plus the huge gun rally coming to Perth

Gun News Australia: the latest news for Aussie shooters

play

01/07/25 • 32 min

WA SHOOTERS are in for expensive new safe requirements. The new laws will require safes that will cost a minimum of $3k and be so heavy – well over 300kg at a minimum – they’ll need a few mates or cranes to move them.

Forget to change the safe, and WA shooters will be up for a $5k fine for the first offence, and jail for a second offence.

WE LOOK at the new requirements which are completely impractical – and what shooters can do about this, with a state election coming up in March. There’s no doubt about it: the WA Labor government NEEDS TO GO.

PLUS we chat about the huge gun rally being organised for Perth on Saturday 8 February. If you are against what the government has done, then this is how you can fix the problem.

JOIN the rally at tinyurl.com/WAGunRally. Sign up to find out where and when the rally will start, who the speakers are, and everything else you need to know.

Gun News Australia: the latest news for Aussie shooters - TASMANIA: Dud politicians, vague gun laws and gun trafficking - all in the same room
play

11/22/24 • 73 min

WE CHAT with the SFFP and SUA’s Phil Bigg, about the political problems continuing to face Tasmanian shooters.

We discuss the fight over antiques, firearms trafficking, and the vagueness of Tasmania’s firearm laws.

These are matters that Phil has fought hard to bring to the attention of Labor, the Liberals and the Jackie Lambie Network.

We run through the obscene changes Tasmania Police are proposing to make to firearm licence applications, and to any shooter wanting to renew their licence.

PLUS we look at the lie that police minister, Felix Ellis, said to shooters prior to the recent Tasmanian State Election when he committed the Liberal Government to ‘supporting law abiding firearm owners’ – when he’s done the opposite.

If you’re a shooter in Tasmania, help Phil by backing the SFFP (Tas only) and Shooters Union Australia. Don’t forget - SUA membership comes with insurance!

If you’re from a Tasmanian based shooting organisation, this interview should explain why you need to get behind Phil at the next election.

He’s genuine, passionate – and he knows his way around Tasmania’s political system.

THE ANIMAL JUSTICE PARTY’S Georgie Purcell has shacked up with Federal Labor Senator, Josh Burns.

What hasn’t been revealed – until now – is that her new beau, Burns, is the co-chair of an anti-gun group in Canberra.

It’s a move that also gives the tattooed anti-duck campaigner the opportunity to land another job in politics if she doesn’t get re-elected at the 2026 Victorian State Election.

WE ALSO cover the imposition of a new tax on firearms and ammunition in California which we covered back in September. The tax is now law, in a move that people like Burns could push for – as goods and services taxes are a federal responsibility.

PLUS, we question whether it is in our interests for shooting organisations to be part of consultation committees where they are required to enter into confidentiality agreements. That’s because it means governments can silence shooting organisations – by offering cosy meetings with party pies, sandwiches and orange juice.

We’ve been losing the war against bad laws and policies for decades – and it’s time our shooting organisations pulled out of those committees and spoke up against what is happening to us all.

Gun News Australia: the latest news for Aussie shooters - IN THEIR SIGHTS: ASIC moves against shooting organisation | Enemy within The White House | WA Liberals on guns
play

12/06/24 • 16 min

THE CORPORATE WATCHDOG, the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, has proposed to deregister rogue shooting group, the National Shooting Council.

The move would end the organisation’s existence, and follows over a year of infighting and wild allegations against shooting organisations and individuals.

While ASIC has not yet decided if it is going to proceed with the proposal, the move raises major questions about how it managed to get into that situation.

WE also look at the gun control organisations who are riding on the back of taxpayer funds with an office in the US White House.

PLUS we critique the change in the way the Western Australian Liberal Party is pitching itself to shooters, just three months out from the WA State Election.
