Gwen Stefani, Founder of GXVE Beauty
Gloss Angeles

5.0
She needs no introduction, but indulge us: You probably know Gwen Stefani as the woman behind the soundtrack to your most prolific life memories. The GRAMMY Award-winning artist is an accomplished fashion designer, has been the face of some of your favorite beauty brands, and now is the founder of GXVE Beauty — her own contribution to the cosmetics world.
Gwen joined us at VICE Studios in Venice, California along with a live audience for our first IRL event to dish on always being a "makeup girl," what she wants to offer the community as a woman in her 50s, and how heartbreak resulted in one of her most iconic looks. Listen to the episode or watch our interview on our Youtube channel!

Hailey Rhode Baldwin Bieber
Gloss Angeles
06/15/22 • 66 min
Hailey Bieber’s skin is as good, if not better than it appears on Instagram and TikTok. Believe (or should we say Beliebe) us — we had the chance to hang out with the newly-minted beauty entrepreneur at Rhode HQ to talk about the launch of her skincare line. But that wasn’t all we talked about either. In addition to learning why she wanted to create her own brand, Hailey also shared the treatments she gets to maintain her glazed donut skin, the relatable origin story behind pizza toast, and how she handles social media celebrity. Kirbie and Sara have also been testing the Rhode products since March and share their honest thoughts.

Is the Beauty Industry a Cult? Linguistically, Maybe. Featuring Author and Linguist Amanda Montell
Gloss Angeles
07/24/20 • 64 min
Amanda Montell is a writer, linguist, and author of the critically acclaimed book Wordslut: A Feminist Guide to Taking Back the English Language, which has earned praise from readers and critics alike, including publications like The New York Times, Time Magazine, and Harper's Bazaar. Amanda is currently developing Wordslut for television with FX, while working on her second book, Cultish—about the language of cults from Scientology to SoulCycle—slated for publication in June 2021 (which she gave us a sneak peek on). Amanda's other writing has been featured in Marie Claire, Glamour, Cosmopolitan, Nylon, Byrdie, and Who What Wear, where she formerly served as the Features & Beauty Editor. We marked this episode as explicit because of the converation, which is respectful but may be considered explicit to some.
On this episode, Amanda dives deep into the somewhat problematic language we use in the beauty industry, advice for how we can redefine the way we talk about ourselves and our bodies, and why it's actually really progressive of us to say like so freaking much.
You can follow Amanda on Instagram @amanda_montell and pick up your copy of Wordslut here.

We’ve got a bunch of beauty news to cover today, Glamgelenos! First off, the end of an era: Clarisonic is calling it quits. So sad! We share our thoughts on why the cleansing-brush brand is closing its doors. Meanwhile, Fenty Beauty is expanding its range to include skincare. That’s right, come July 31, fans of Rihanna’s glow will be able to shop Fenty Skin. Gen Z will be excited to learn that TikTok sister stars Charlie and Dixie D’Amelio are creating a new line with Morphe geared towards their younger generation. We’re also expanding on news from last week and diving into the deets about Jackie Aina, Desi Perkins, and Patrick Starrr’s launches. Plus, a brow duo we're both psyched about and a peel that's not for the timid (or for sensitive skin).

The Science of Beauty (and Making a Career Out It) with Allure's Michelle Lee and Jenny Bailly
Gloss Angeles
11/13/20 • 77 min
If you’re a beauty lover (which you obviously are since you listen to this podcast) then you’re likely an avid reader of Allure, too, like us. That’s why this episode is extra special — we’ve got Allure’s editor in chief, Michelle Lee, and Allure’s executive beauty director, Jenny Bailly BOTH on the podcast! Michelle and Jenny lead the incredible editorial team at Allure, bringing us the best in beauty journalism both in print and digital, and now through podcasts.
During our conversation, the two share what it’s been like running a website and magazine remotely during this pandemic, their respective career paths and how they ended up in beauty, and, of course, their most interesting beauty tips. Michelle and Jenny also talk to us about Allure: The Science of Beauty, a podcast they recently launched that explores the link between science and beauty. In each episode, they do a deep dive with an expert into a specific beauty topic, demystifying questions you’ve always wondered like what a wrinkle actually is and whether or not pores can open and close. If you like our episodes where we dissect a specific ingredient or topic, then you’ll love The Science of Beauty. Be sure to give it a listen!
