GIRO Podcast

A few months back, Sarah Hammond introduced us here at G!RO to Ross Burrage who put out a call for some second hand kit for a project he was involved with in Uganda. 8 Large DHL boxed up and shipped to go to the amazing Masaka Cycling Club in the southern part of Uganda. The mission of the club is to offer a platform for men & women to access cycling as a sport, which for the vast majority would be near impossible being one of the poorest parts of the country. Its an amazing project that is having a real & significant impact in the lives of that area.

This week, Jordan was able to sit down with the man behind the project, Ross Burrage. He is also the man behind the excellent Hidden Athlete podcast, which delves into the lives of some of most extraordinary athletes on the planet. So sit back, grab a brew and enjoy!

G!RO talks to the G!RO Women's Race Team | Women & Cycling

When we first opened our doors in 2013, one of our desires was to break down the barriers that may stop people getting involved in cycling. We wanted to (and still do) find ways to make groups cycling or racing available to all regardless of ability or background. However, the reality is that Cycling has been a largely male dominated sport from the top levels down to grass roots. So what does this mean to women who are involved in cycling or women who want to get involved in cycling.

This week, we sit down with Debs, Michelle, Jo & Daniella who are members of the G!RO Women's Race Team for an open and honest conversation about their journeys as Women in Cycling. We discuss how to build confidence in a largely male dominated sport, some issues they have faced, and discuss some realistic solutions that could pave the way for more women to be involved in a sport that we all love. We would love to keep the conversation going, so please email your thoughts over to [email protected]

So sit back, grab a brew and enjoy!
