Girls Gone Boss - Kirsten Savik: La Gringa mas Latina
play

01/24/19 • 56 min

Kirsten Savik better known as La Gringa mas Latina started her radio journey in 2005 as an intern at La Picosa Radio in Minesota where she originally hails from. Her love for Latin culture and music began at a very young age and lead her to spend some time grasping the language and customs.
As she grew at La Picaso she got the opportunity to be the GM of the station which lead her to learn everything from sales, music directing, to management. After being with the company for almost 6 years, she transitioned to an all English station in Minnesota 96.3 NOW. Once the station flipped, she decided it was time to expand and grow her career in a bigger market and she made the bold move to Miami.
Once here she began working with Miami’s own DJ LAZ at one of the biggest radio station group: Spanish Broadcasting Systems for DJ106.7. She also spent some time at POWER 96 working part time. But most recently she got her big break at iheart Radio alongside Enrique Santos on his new station TU949 which helped bring to life LA GRINGA MAS LATINA.
In this episode, she candidly shares her experience growing up in Minnesota and her yearning for Latin culture and its people. Her passion to learn the Spanish language lead her to living abroad in Dominican Republic and eventually perfecting her skills in Spanish. Soon after returning to Minnesota she got her foot in the door in the radio business and was able to turn her passion into a full on career. Her big move to Miami allowed her to meet the love of her life, become a mom, and evolve in her radio career. La Gringa mas Latina is a true inspiration as she teaches all of us that there is no boundaries to what you want to do, you just have to go out and do it!
