Girl Pow - Running a Contemporary Art Gallery with Abigail Ryan of Abigail Ogilvy Gallery

Running a Contemporary Art Gallery with Abigail Ryan of Abigail Ogilvy Gallery

05/05/20 • 29 min

Girl Pow

Abigail Ryan opened her eponymous gallery, Abigail Ogilvy Gallery, in Boston's SoWa art district in 2015. The gallery represents a roster of Contemporary artists [we talked about Natalia Wróbel, Holly Harrison, Keenan Derby, Clint Baclawski and Lavaughan Jenkins are a few we discussed in the episode] who work across media and subject matter. In our conversation, we talk about what it was like starting the gallery, how Abigail finds artists to work with and what goes into building out the gallery's exhibition schedule and program. Abigail gives great advice for those looking to work in the art industry, such as "stick to the basics" as you start out and get really good at what you do. Looking ahead, she plans to attend the art fair Volta in Basel, Switzerland this September. If you are an artist or art collector, you will enjoy this episode.
