Today my guest is the legendary stunt performer Rick Avery.
Stunt performers are the people that crash cars, take hits, get shot, fall off buildings, and get set on fire... but you never know who they really are. They add excitement and drama to a show and stand in for actors and actresses, so they don’t get hurt. They are incredibly trained and meticulous when it comes to everyone’s safety.
Rick Avery has been a stunt performer in over 700 films, including “Get Shorty,” “Animal Kingdom,” “AntMan,” “American Sniper,” “The Intern,” and the list goes on and on.
I recently had the pleasure of talking with Rick. But, I also had the preconception that someone like him would have to be tough to be in this line of work for so long. For me, this was another example of incorrectly prejudging people (try to learn this lesson early on if you can.)
Rick has proven to be one of the most talented, charming, and open people I’ve ever met in the business.
