Liz and the High School Sweetheart, Tom and the Banshee
Ghosts of Boyfriends Past
09/18/19 • 34 min
Let's talk about ex, baby! Your hosts Liz and Tom introduce you to your next bingeable listen about love gone bad, and start the ball rolling with their own unlucky in love stories. Let's just say lessons were learned (or weren't but DEFINITELY should have been).
In this episode of Ghosts of Boyfriends Past, we meet our hosts former relationship columnist Elizabeth Best and current all-round funny guy Tom Harris. And because fair is fair. the pair share two of the more awkward stories from their relationship past and what they learnt (or SHOULD have learnt). If the guests have to go through it, so should the hosts! And you listeners need to get to know who you're listening to, and why they're completely (un)qualified to talk about relationship troubles.
Liz also talks about how the podcast came about and what we can expect from this season: think all funny, tragic, heartbreaking, horrifying and just plain bonkers stories of relationship fails and the people who picked themselves back up again, dusted themselves of and jumped once more into the crazy little thing called love.

Amy, Scott and the Polycule
Ghosts of Boyfriends Past
07/29/20 • 43 min
Scott and Amy are married. Scott and Amy also have other partners. Plural. So what does this mean for them? Do they get jealous? How did they get here? And most importantly: how on earth do they juggle several partners when Liz is exhausted by the idea of one?
EPISODE NOTES:
Scott calls himself an ethical non-monogamist. Amy says she's a relationship anarchist. They've been married for 20 years, and they also have other partners. Plural. So what does this mean for them? Do they get jealous? How did they get here? And most importantly: how on earth do they juggle several partners when Liz is exhausted by the idea of one?
Scott and Amy Driscoll are Brisbane performers with groups such as Act/React and Impro Mafia.
Below are some terms discussed in the episode.
Polyamory
Polyamory is the practice of, or desire for, intimate relationships with more than one partner, with the informed consent of all partners involved. It has been described as "consensual, ethical, and responsible non-monogamy".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polyamory
It is just one type of ethical non-monogamy and can be interpreted very differently by different individuals.
Poly-saturated
Amy’s term for maxing out your dating capacity. “I’ve deleted all my dating apps. I’m poly-saturated at the moment and have no time to see anyone.”
Multiamory
An excellent podcast offering new ideas and advice for multiple forms of love: everything from conscious monogamy to ethical polyamory and radical relationship anarchy. Some very intense deep dives into communication.

The Ethical Slut
First published in 1997, The Ethical Slut discusses how to live an active life with multiple concurrent sexual relationships in a fair and honest way. Discussion topics include how to deal with the practical difficulties and opportunities in finding and keeping partners, maintaining relationships with others, and strategies for personal growth.
Relationship Anarchy
... is very hard to define succinctly. Values include self-direction, removal of default relationship hierachies and allowing relationships to progress without expectations around a set of progressive stages (see "Relationship Escalators").

Alex and the Christmas Surprise
Ghosts of Boyfriends Past
11/27/19 • 30 min
Alex loves love. But sometimes love does not love Alex. Even so, this story is a rare Ghosts tale because it includes a story that's actually kind of sweet (much to Liz's chagrin).
In this episode we take a rare break from stories of utter heartbreak and romantic missteps to hear a story that's all hearts and flowers. Liz is not into this because romantic tales are not what she signed up for. Tom (Mr "Team Love") however is all on board as Alex Smith from the My Songs Suck podcast talks about one of the more smooshy times in his love life. Think a magical Christmas and grand gestures (and do excuse Liz throwing up in the background).
