I must admit, I got this because the idea sounded interesting but I really don't believe in magic. Even so, I think this book was very good! It was written in a more academic style, with great descriptions and instructions. In fact, although I'm not personally a magic believer or user, I am considering going out and buying a rose quartz, just to try out some of the spell in this book. If you are looking to begin learning Wiccan magic, or are simply interested in this style of book, I would definitely recommend this one!

Doesn't get any better than this If you're interested in how theistic understanding matches up (scientifically and philosophically) against non-theistic worldviews, this is the book to read. I expected more Questions? Yes! Answers? No! The author does not "confront" these questions. It is a compendium of opinions from many sources that ends in a stalemate. The author keeps a very low profile and is careful to offend no one. Perhaps that was his goal. While it is a good source of history, I had expected more from a Professor of Divinity.
