Episode 18 - GenX Speaks Series: Kendall's Story
GenX Adulting Podcast
02/05/25 • 151 min
In this episode of our GenX Speaks series, we welcome Kendall. Kendall opens with painting a picture of her almost “Hallmark” type upbringing on a Christmas tree farm in Beavercreek, Oregon where she spent time with her large extended family. She describes how she felt “taken” when her family moved to fulfill her dad’s dream of always living in Alaska, and shares with us what it was like to spend a good portion of her formative years growing up in a small town in the middle of Alaska. College aspirations landed her in the idyllic town of Ashland, Oregon, where she made many friends, including Brian and Nicole. Balancing her social life and studying became a challenge, which led to Kendall eventually dropping out of school. Looking back, she suspects some of her academic issues during that time were related to undiagnosed ADHD. Kendall is gracious enough to give us a window into the trauma she endured during her marriage, and her subsequent divorce. We touch on her new beginning in a new home and her current journey that is beyond impressive and inspiring. We loved having Kendall in the studio and look forward to her next guest appearance!

Episode 24 - GenZ Women Series: Kierstin
GenX Adulting Podcast
03/16/25 • 142 min
In this episode we welcome Kierstin to the studio. Kierstin shares with us how she was always the quiet and shy girl through her formative years and typically internalized everything. Her mother’s battle with cancer through Kierstin’s middle school years, and eventual tragic passing when Kierstin was in 8th grade, further amplified those characteristics and as a result, she spent most of her high school years isolating in her own little bubble. She reflects on her decision to force herself out of her comfort zone as she headed into college and used the opportunities she found at Florida State University to continually challenge herself to be social. She found so much success in her endeavor that it left her exhausted and depleted and once again facing her issues. During her sophomore year, she courageously sought help and found therapy on campus which stopped her spiral and gave her space to find true healing. After graduation, we learn how Kierstin continued to challenge herself by choosing jobs related to event planning and hospitality, which led to her current position where she works various prestigious and private events throughout South Florida. We discuss authenticity in today’s current dating culture and the various challenges young women face as a result of dating apps. Kierstin also shares about her experience in a toxic relationship, and how the lessons she learned has helped her completely adjust her standards going forward. We truly value Kierstin’s trust in us that allowed her to share her story and loved learning about her amazing journey thus far. We look forward to having her as a return guest in the future!

Episode 20 - GenX Speaks Series: Jenn's Story
GenX Adulting Podcast
02/17/25 • 107 min
In the latest episode of our GenX Speaks series, we are thrilled to welcome Jenn. We hear about Jenn’s idyllic childhood in her beloved hometown of Buffalo, New York. After graduation, Jenn pursued not one, not two, but 3 degrees! Her love of cheerleading, which began during middle school, led to her becoming a cheer coach and eventually a Buffalo Jill captain. Jenn entertains us with stories of participating on the pageant circuit, including a go at Miss New York. Modeling eventually led to a deal with Mattel to portray Barbie, which Jenn cleverly parlayed into her own business. Pharmaceutical sales was Jenn’s next adventure, followed by a sudden move to south Florida where she dabbled as a weather newscaster and pop-up internet model before settling back into pharmaceutical sales. Of all the roles and adventures Jenn has experienced, becoming a mother to her two sons was hands down her role of a lifetime. Jenn offers timely advice for women on divorce and starting over, in addition to how she has been in a thriving long-distance relationship for the past two years. Yet the most impressive adventure Jenn has embarked on has been her latest entrepreneurial project, Pink Space Productions, where she is a DJ and Event Planner serving the South Florida, Charlotte and Buffalo metro markets. Jenn brings an authentic and genuine experience to every event where she makes each one uniquely special. We are excited to see where Pink Space Productions takes off to next!

Episode 28 - GenX Speaks Series: Mary's Story
GenX Adulting Podcast
04/14/25 • 141 min
In this episode we welcome Mary, a GenX. Mary shares about her upbringing in a small town in south New Jersey, where she was the youngest of 6. A natural athlete, Mary followed in her siblings steps by joining the local swim team at the young age of three. She continued to swim through her formative years and eventually swam at the collegiate level in college. After graduation, she accepted a job as a high school English teacher in Maryland where she worked tirelessly as a new teacher to her 9th and 11th grade students. A couple years later she packed up and embarked on a move to New York City. Mary gives us a glimpse into the ten years she lived in the city, working as an assistant to a fashion stylist, a model, an actress, a server/bartender and eventually a sales executive, all while living the “Sex and the City”. Wanting a change, she left the city and moved down to south Florida, where she married and became a mother in addition to becoming a certified yoga instructor and eventual entrepreneur of her own athletic wear, Manmaker Sports. Recently divorced, Mary shares some wisdom to couples who may be in the process of divorcing, as well as inspiration as she reflects on the exciting events already occurring in her new chapter. We learn about Mary’s exciting career path she has undertaken, which includes EFT Tapping, Matrix Imprinting and getting certified in Homeopathy, all while continuing to teach yoga. We loved having Mary in the studio and truly appreciated her teaching us about these new ways to unpack past trauma and heal.
