On this episode (my last before a breif hiatus), I’m joined by Adam Graham. Adam is a PROFILIC, OG podcaster, releasing content for over 16 years. Adam hosts a slew of podcasts, most notably, Great Detectives of Old Time Radio, which releases episodes daily.
Adam and I talk about how he first got into Old Time Radio, his favourite detective shows (his least favourite show), and what prompted him to start sharing these shows with others through this wacky medium of podcasting. We talk about his recent decision to make podcasting his full-time occupation (ah, the dream) through audience support.
Follow Adam on Twitter (or X... <eye roll>) @radiodetectives and Instagram at @greatdetectives. Follow his content on Youtube or wherever fine podcasts are found.

On this episode of Geek4, I'm joined by Lucas Twyman. Lucas is a well-known figure in the Toronto bar scene, having bartended here for the past ten years. He's my local barkeep, making delicious cocktails at Famous Last Words in the Junction. He also teaches cocktail making classes there and those classes are excellent (I've taken three of them). Recently, Lucas has become the Angel's Envy Whiskey Guardian for Toronto, representing the Angel's Envy brand across the city. I wanted to find what made Lucas interested in liquor, mixology, and bartending - which is as much a social skill as a technical skill. Over the course of the conversation, I learned that Lucas is a geek for lots of thing - Godzilla, he worked for a roleplaying game company. This was a fun conversation. I only wish we could have had it over a drink.
If you're in and around Toronto and want to take one of the literary-themed cocktail making classes at Famous Last Words, I'll drop the link to their website in the show notes. FLW

My guest on this episode is Bonni Stachowiak. Boni is dean of teaching and learning and professor of business and management at Vanguard University of Southern California. As the creator and host of the Teaching in Higher Ed podcast, she provides a space for discussing the art and science of facilitating learning. She also explores ways to improve instructor’s productivity, so they can be more present for their students and have more peace in their lives.
Bonni has conducted workshops and presented keynotes at various academic conferences on how to more effectively facilitate learning. She’s also shared ways to use educational technology to improve teaching and approaches for providing greater agency to our students in their learning. And it’s her infectious love of technology and her willingness to try new toys that we talk about today.
You can find Bonni online at https://teachinginhighered.com and her podcast, Teaching in Higher Ed, is available where all the finest podcasts are found.

My guest today is Jessica Regan. You may know Jessica as the cocreator and cohost of excellent The Best Pick Podcast, along with Tom Salinksky and John Dorney. She's also an award winning, RADA trained actor, who's appeared on stage in the West End, New York and LA and on screen, with roles in BBC's hilarious Ill Behaviour, Call the Midwife, Silent Witness and Doctors. You may recognize her voice from the video games Witcher 3 and Assassin's Creed Valhalla. And if all that wasn't impressive enough, she's recently added "author" to her resume. Best Pick: A Journey through Film History and the Academy Awards will be released this February from Rowman and Littlefield.
What you might not know is that Jessica is also a MASSIVE Quentin Tarantino fan. In fact, when she was a guest on the quiz show Celebrity Mastermind, her specialist subject was Quentin Tarantino. I'm so pleased that she's be able to join me.
This was a wonderful conversation that went in a number of different directions. We talk about her history with Tarantino films. We talk about Tarantino's relationships with actors as well as his complicated legacy including his treatment of Uma Thurman and his relationship with Harvey Weinstein.

I wasn't sure if I was going to release this audio. In the month of January, I took the solo show writing course that episode 219 guest TJ Dawe lead. It was great; I met a group of really talented performers or, like me, wanna be performers.
For the course's final assignment, each of the participants gave a 5 minute performance of whatever original piece we were creating. When I started the class, I had no idea what story or stories I might tell. In the various get to know-ya exercises we did, I quickly realized that my story - the story of the last year, year and half of my life - is pretty interesting to people.
I'm not sure exactly how to frame the rest of the tale at this point, but I think I have a pretty engaging introduction. I recorded an audio version and sought feedback from people outside the class: some people who are close to me and know me and my story pretty well; some people who hardly know me or haven't seen me in years. I'm so grateful for the support from those who offered or agreed to give a response. And I'm ever more grateful to those who actually did. Overall, the feedback was very positive. And so, being encouraged that I was on to something good, I thought I'd just straight up share here. Who knows? It might motivate me to keep working on it.
If you have any feedback, whether we're close or not, drop me message on one of the social media platforms: Twitter @mwboyce and Instagram @mwboyce

On this episode I'm joined by podcaster, author, actor, and producer Tom Salinsky. My listeners may know Tom as the co-creator and co-host of Best Pick Podcast along with previous Geek4 guest Jessica Regan and (hopefully future guest) John Dorney. Tom joined me to talk about his love for the films of Billy Wilder, who is also one of my favourite directors.
Over the course of our conversation, we cover many aspects of a wide variety of Wilder classics and not-so-classics, including The Apartment (1960), Double Indemnity (1944), Some Like It Hot (1959), One, Two Three (1961), and The Emperor Waltz (1953). We also talk about Tom's #TrekaDay project, which you can follow on Twitter, the vulnerability of showing people movies you love, and even speculate about the next actor to play James Bond.
You can follow up Tom's up on Twitter @tomsalinsky (and follow his #TrekaDay) or read his reviews at http://tomsalinsky.co.uk/blog/
