Gartbage Film
Join hosts Nick & Erin as they discuss a movie-of-the-week and then each pick a 2nd film to create a thematically spicy double bill. Their goal: to pair art with trash and vice versa. Because after all, one person's E.T.: The Extraterrestrial is another person's Mac & Me.

We're rounding out the year on Gartbage Film with a heaping helping of holiday chaos: it's Joe Dante's Gremlins from 1984!
We talk about the much, much darker original script, how Dante & Spielberg crafted their fake reality, and the intricacies of Gremlin society (it's mostly clown hammer-based we think?).
Plus we wrap up the year by choosing the most diametrically opposed double bills in our short history and boy it's a doozy to go out on.

Merry Musicals May continues with our landmark episode on a landmark musical, Frank Oz's Little Shop of Horrors from 1986!
This movie is a delight from front to back. We're gushing about Ellen Greene & Rick Moranis' disparate voices, the design of Ashman & Menken's soundscape, the puppetting tours de force, and how it takes the time to rub our noses in its anti-consumierism message.
We talk at length about how the three endings this movie has: the original movie ending, the off-Broadway musical, and the somehow darkest-timeline version that failed the preview process. Plus, Erin's cursed casting choices cause Nick psychic harm.
Next week we're entering the 21st century with Baz Luhrman's Moulin Rouge! (2001)
