Furry, Explained with Finn the Panther

Furries are a very diverse fandom, but there are a few interests that are shared amongst the community at large. One of those interests is gaming; the history between furries and gamers is rich, and while they are unmistakingly different fandoms, there are many things about the two groups that are in common with one another. Part of the experience for both fandoms includes their own conventions, and Finn had a chance to experience a local gaming convention, and compare and contrast one from that community and cons from the furry community!

An update on the state of this podcast.

Attending a furry convention can be one of the most fun activates one can do as a furry! These large gatherings of members of the furry fandom are seemingly filled with parties, dancing, and hanging out with friends. But despite what they may seem at face value, the most common activity that occurs at cons aren't parties or dances. They are actually based in education, where furries present to other furries about things regarding the fandom... Kinda what we do here. On this episode, we explain what these presentations, or panels, are, what their role is at furry conventions, and how you could go about doing one for yourself! Which can be a nice change of pace, before going back to partying late into the night...

In this week's episode, we explain why you should not come out as a furry! It's true, there are a lot of members of the furry fandom who may be afraid to tell others about it. But many still want to tell those people and because of the potential backlash, may frame their disclosure as something similar to coming out about their non-straight or cis sexual or gender identity. But in most cases, this is actually a bad idea for a variety of different reasons. So in this episode, we go over some of the reasons why you should not "come out" as a furry, and explain some strategies that may be a lot more effective when telling others about your furry fandom membership!
