From Atlanta to Broadway - Theatre IS the Back-Up Plan: Interview with Tim Evanicki

Theatre IS the Back-Up Plan: Interview with Tim Evanicki

02/16/20 • 36 min

From Atlanta to Broadway

This is an episode not to be missed! We have the pleasure of talking with Tim Evanicki, a Juilliard-trained voice teacher and singer who started and runs the popular program The College Audition.

Tim shares insight into the college audition process, tips for vocal health, and trends in musical theatre training. We also explore Tim's article: "Parents: A Degree in Theatre IS Their Backup Plan." The back-up plan is a topic that we commonly discuss with our podcast guests and we were thrilled to get Tim's take on the topic.

Be sure to check out The College Audition offerings, including their summer College Audition Conservatory Program on July 11-19 in Orlando.

New York or Bust: Interview with Performer Emily Whitley

In this episode, we were so excited to chat with Emily Whitley, who made the move to New York to pursue her Broadway dreams! Before her move, you may have seen her in local productions like “Head over Heels” at Actor’s Express.

You’ll get to hear all the nitty-gritty details about finding a place to live, earning income while still saving time to audition and train, as well as embarking on the search for an agent.

Emily’s determination, persistence, and resiliency during this process is something we know will inspire other Broadway hopefuls. We are grateful to Emily, who has agreed to keep up posted on her New York happenings so we can follow her journey. We know great things are in store!

Creating Your Own Path: Interview with Broadway Performer Turned Agent Paige Chambers

What a treasure trove of riches we have in this interview with Paige Chambers! Paige began her incredible Broadway career just before graduating high school and performed in amazing shows including "Crazy for You," "42nd Street," "A Chorus Line," "Cats," "Anything Goes," and "The Producers." Paige also spent time as a Radio City Rockette, possibly holding the record as the tallest Rockette to date!

Paige now heads The Resolute Artists Agency, a boutique agency representing talent in Atlanta, New York, LA, and beyond. We love to follow the Agency's Facebook page to see news of the exciting projects her clients are booking!

We asked Paige the oft-asked questions of when to get an agent, whether to go straight to New York after high school, and whether young performers should go out for a non-equity audition in New York. Not only does she share incredibly helpful advice on all of these fronts, she also shares wisdom for how to prepare for an audition and how to maintain resiliency throughout the audition process.

We can't wait for you to hear this episode!
