There are myriad topics that we could highlight and discuss regarding our responsible uses of our freedom. I have chosen just a couple of them here. We reap the consequences, for good or ill, by the things that we choose to do. Here's to ensuring that we do all that is within our power to minimize unpleasant consequences going forward.

Stopping to think about what's really important is something we should all do on a regular basis. We have to be willing to stand up for what we believe, and continue to respect the rights of all people to believe what they will.

Will we ever know the truth regarding issues that the press has the responsibility to share with the people? We may never know. But what we need to know is that we have a responsibility as citizens to find out the truth...no matter where it leads.

Most of us, including me, do not think about the office of an elected official, as sanctified. But in reality, based upon the blood that was spilt to ensure that our system of government could endure, elected office should be viewed as sanctified. Of course, this is not to be confused with the officeholder, however. Regardless of the officeholder, when it comes to power, each of us has the power to do the right thing.

The right of the presumption of innocence, as enumerated in the Bill of Rights, is likely one of the most important and basic rights that exists for all Americans. We must do all within our power to ensure that that right, as well as all the other rights afforded to us, whether enumerated or otherwise, are preserved for everyone.
