Foul Play: Crime Series - S6 Ep1: From the Archives - Redhead Murders
play

04/25/21 • 21 min

From the archives I am re-releasing this season that I did years ago on the Redhead Murders. This was the pre-cursor to what is now Season 1 on this podcast - the Throwaways season. I used these episodes to share my live on-the-ground investigation to help bring attention to these women, and to bring in tips.

With numerous female victims, this series of murders remains an unsolved murder mystery. This introduction episode will tell you a little about the Redhead Murders, which was investigated by the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) initially thirty years ago. In 1985, the body of Lisa Ann Jarvis was found on an Interstate 40 entrance ramp in West Memphis, Arkansas.

Also known as Lisa Ann Nichols and Lisa Ann Fuller, she had a long criminal record of prostitution, shoplifting, larceny, robbery, and drugs. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation included Jarvis's body on a list of those under investigation as possibly part of serial killings. On Sunday, September 16, 1984, a hitchhiker discovered her body among the trash. Sergeant Raymond Buchana, a Metro Vice squad officer, said, her rap sheet stretches from the ceiling to the floor three times.

Authorities were not sure if one person was responsible for the killings or how many victims there might be, but Jarvis's identification as one of the eight redhead murder victims seemed to be consistent with what they thought in the beginning. The police officer remarked that she had the second-largest prostitution record in the city of Nashville, and that she had a drug habit worse than his car has a gasoline habit. This language dehumanizes Lisa and makes it seem like she deserved to die because of her lifestyle.

Foul Play: Crime Series - S33 Ep24: The Zodiac: The Hoax Theory
play

10/02/24 • 34 min

In this final episode of our series on the Zodiac, we explore a radical new theory that challenges everything we've come to believe about one of America's most infamous killers. Professor Thomas Henry Horan, an academic with a controversial stance, suggests that the Zodiac Killer never truly existed. Through his "Zodiac Hoax Theory," Horan argues that the murders attributed to the Zodiac were, in fact, the work of multiple unrelated killers, with the infamous letters and ciphers being the product of hoaxers. Join us as we unravel this alternative perspective on a case that has perplexed investigators and captivated the public for over five decades.

Foul Play: Crime Series

08/15/22 • 1 min

Hi, I’m Shane. At the beginning of 2014, I launched the very first crime series podcast called Foul Play. Each season I present mind boggling crime cases. From a man falling in love with an underage girl, which turned into the first federal court case of it’s kind. To a nun who was murdered in 1969 Baltimore for trying to stop a giant child sex ring among priests and police - which went on to become the Netflix docu-series “The Keepers”. Then there is the Throwaway season... where I share how I overcame homelessness in high school, and how that experience lead me to solving the identity of a serial killer and identifying 3 of his Jane Doe victims. These seasons are out there and are ready for you to listen too right now - And I release a new episode each week for new seasons. You can find Foul Play wherever you get your podcasts. I’ll meet you there.

Podcast Q&A

Why did you start this show?

I started the show in 2008, when a series of sexual assaults on my college campus started occurring. It was a crime series to share what was happening, in hopes that students would take it seriously.

What do you hope listeners gain from listening to your show?

I hope listeners enjoy the storytelling, while realizing that the folks they are learning about are real people.

Which episode should someone start with?

All seasons are their own case, so you can find a season that jumps out at you and jump in anywhere. One of my favorites is Season 15 - My Aunt and the Hitman.

Which have been your favourite episodes so far?

Season 15 is special because my co-host Wendy created the season based on her aunt/god mother's murder. Sharon was murdered by a hitman and we released the series on the 15th anniversary.
