Food is the New Rock
Ep. 143 - Guns N Roses might not be the topic you'd expect us to spend over an hour talking about with the owner of Canter's, the famous Jewish deli in L.A.'s Fairfax district. But that's exactly what we did w/ Marc Canter last week, who not only grew up with Slash but has documented practically his entire career. He was there when Guns N Roses was formed, and his book "Reckless Road" is full of stories and pictures from that time. Recently he was the subject of an Uproxx documentary about G'nR, prompting us to sit down with the 3rd generation deli owner. We talk Guns N Roses, the Sunset Strip, and (of course) pastrami.

Christina Tosi

Ep. 142 - Momofuku Milk Bar chef Christina Tosi is this week's podcast guest. Zach welcomed her to our Bronson Island studio, where they exchanged sweets and then talked about their mutual love of R. Kelly. Christina also talked about her childhood cassette collection, her Dad's hatred of the Beach Boys, and her completely shocking very first concert- which we won't ruin by telling you about here. We then asked her what it's like working with David Chang, and hatched a plan to make Questlove the cereal milk of his dreams (don't tell him about it.)
Christina Tosi's new cookbook "Milk Bar Life" is out now.

The Magnetic Fields' Stephin Merritt

Ep. 144 - On this week's podcast Zach meets up with Stephen Merritt (and Sam Davol) from the Magnetic Fields at Doomie's, a vegan restaurant in Hollywood, CA. Over vegan fried chicken and ham and cheese croissants they talk about Stephin's friendship with Doug Quint from the Big Gay Ice Cream Truck, why he became Vegan, and how much better it's gotten over the years for touring musicians who don't eat meat (and he makes it clear it has nothing to do with the hummus.) Plus Stephin teaches us about the vomit fruit al, which is also one of the subjects of his new Scrabble inspired book of mnemonic poems, "101 Two Letter Words". We were warned that Stephin is a notoriously interesting interviewee and to be ready for awkward pauses. He didn't disappoint.
