Show outline:

Episode 001: How to play Fantasy Football / Glossary of Terms

What is fantasy football?

    1. Draft a team – a player can only be on one team at a time
    2. Set a starting lineup – (except for best ball leagues) only points for these players count (sometimes bench points are a tie-breaker as well)
    3. Players accumulate points in relation to their performance / stats (i.e. yards, touchdowns, field goals, etc.)
    4. Manage a team throughout the NFL season – you typically keep a majority of the players you drafted all year long, unless you trade them to other teams
    5. Pick up undrafted players week-by-week to upgrade your team
    6. Play head-to-head matchups (or rotisserie scoring) against another person’s team

Choose a site

    1. Yahoo
    2. ESPN
    3. CBS
    4. Sleeper

Find a league

    1. Invited?
    2. Public leagues (good for practice)
    3. Start your own and invite friends

Select / review scoring system and league settings

    1. League type
      1. Redraft
      2. Keeper
      3. Dynasty
    2. Number of teams
      1. Influences draft strategy
      2. Standard is 10 teams
      3. More teams = more difficult (more players to know)
    3. How to determine a winner:
      1. Head-to-Head
      2. Rotisserie / top half of points scored gets a W
      3. Best Ball
    4. Scoring:
      1. PPR
      2. Non-PPR
      3. 1⁄2 point PPR
      4. Performance bonuses
    5. Roster configuration:
      1. standard
      2. extra WR or extra FLEX

      1. How many teams
      2. Tiebreakers
      3. Any Byes?
      4. Reseeding?
      5. 1 or 2 week matchups
    9. Money:
      1. League Dues
      2. Weekly payouts for wins / top scores
      3. Regular season champ (record or points)
      4. Playoff champ
      5. Pay per roster move (postseason party fund)
      6. Trophies / Belts
      7. Loser punishments
      8. Using consolation bracket for next year’s draft order

Mock draft – do your research

    1. If you know your draft spot, mock in that spot over and over on the site you are going to use
    2. Try different strategies to see how your lineup ends up
      1. Zero RB
      2. TE / QB early
      3. RB / RB / RB
    3. Drafts tend to loosely follow the pre-rankings of the site

Set your lineup EVERY WEEK
