Episode 42 A Sacrifice of Praise
A sacrifice of praise
Hebrews 13:15-16
15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name. 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased.
Can’t make you feel like not worshiping, so hard to challenge, but I have an idea that is related:
1st Thessalonians 5
16 Rejoice always, 17 pray continually, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
Challenge: Give thanks for distractions during worship this week

Episode 41 Holy Expectancy
“One reason worship should be considered a Spiritual Discipline is because it is an ordered way of acting and living that sets us before God so he can transform us.” (Foster, p.166)
Yes we are dependant on God’s touch, but we can takes steps to open up to Him. (farmer analogy)
“Activity is the enemy of adoration.” (Foster, p.161)
Referencing Jesus’ assessment of greatest commandments: “The divine priority is worship first, service second.”
Frank Laubach constant conversation with God and Holy expectancy (Foster, p.162-163)
Challenge: Arrive to worship service room 10 minutes earlier than normal. Perhaps go to the balcony. Pray, lifting first your heart to Jesus and praising him. Pray for leaders of service. Pray for people entering room.
Could go further, getting extra sleep Saturday night, reading over song lyrics beforehand, going for a walk before entering church.

Episode 43 Goosebumps or Obedience
Let’s Get Invisible: Leftie
Point of worship isn’t goosebumps. What is the point?
“The real question in worship is not, ‘What will meet my need?’ The real question is, ‘What kind of worship does God call for?’” (Foster, 170)
1st John 3:2 “Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.”
“Just as worship begins in holy expectancy, it ends in holy obedience. If worship does not propel us into greater obedience, it has not been worship.” (Foster, 173)
Challenge: Lead at least two other people into worship this week.
