Welcome back to president, reassuring Americans during a Fox news town hall that States will reopen safely. It depends on where you belong. New York is a very much different place than Montana. Certain States are going to have to take a little more time in getting open, but restaurant business is a tough business.
We have to, we can't stay closed as a country. We're not going to have a country level. Right. So what will it take for business owners to open their doors? Again? Joining me now is our small business panel this morning, Fit Body Boot Camp, founder Bedros Keuilian, and lasting impressions. Owner, Jennifer Mercurio and hedge tactical solutions.
We really appreciate it. And bedrooms. I want to start with you, Yona, of bootcamp company, where you get people in shape. That's going to be a tough one to reopen. What did you make of the president's message last night? Well, you know what, Rob, I got hope.
I got hope and I love hearing a sense of optimism in our president. But the truth is he's right. We do need open the doors. We do need to get back in the business in a sensible way, and we've created a Fit Body Boot Camp, an eight by eight training space for each client where we can do that, where we are going to be safe about it, and we're going to train in place, but we need the opportunity to go into business so we can really help build the economy and help our staff.
Absolutely. Yeah. I mean, and that's the way of doing it, is going to be the trickiest part. It sounds like you've been planning this for awhile. Jennifer, I want to go to you. As we look at the numbers here, we're expecting a really rough unemployment report coming out this week. We were around 4% for a while.
We had a very strong economy, and that could be ballooned up to 16%. what did you make of the president's message last night, knowing that number. Well, I think that the president was right in saying that, We all need to be mindful of our own situation and we're waiting all from guidance from our own governors, um, what we can do in our own personal businesses to help ourselves.
We're all entrepreneurs and we all want to just make our own living without assistance. And I think each business should have an opportunity to do that. Absolutely. Kevin, over to you. I want to talk, you're in the tech space. What do you thinks of the plan should be? I mean, when do you think people should be going back to work?
Yeah, this is a tough question and you don't, and I was sitting and watching the town hall meeting last night in it. I think the president did a great job. Like your first caller said, I think he brought it home. But you know, the, the thing that worries me most is without a vaccine. How do you open restaurants?
How do you bring these people and get them back together? I don't, you know, I, I would really like to have a comprehensive plan. I put together that the people can feel more confident about, they can understand. Um, and I think that that's going to actually bring people back together. I think if, if, if this is really something and we don't ever want to minimize deaths.
But if this is something that made a major concern, we have to have a plan. You have to figure out how to get them back together again. Right. Bedroom is one of the things that hopefully is going to save a lot of these small businesses. Keep you guys from shutting your doors has been the PPP program.

Gym franchise owner calls on California Gov. Newsom to relax state restrictions

Or read the video transcript below:
The state of California. Now in phase two of it's reopening as governor Gavin Newsome out there hints phase three, which would include salons and gyms. Could be opening a month from now, but our next guest who owns gyms across the country is urging the California governor to relax these restrictions, claiming they are doing more harm than good here to explain Bedros Keuilian, and the founder of Fit Body Boot Camp.
He joins us right now from the LA area. Bedros, good morning to you. Good morning. Thanks for having me. Okay, so Bedros first, let's start. You know, one of the, worries about a gym is that if I go to the gym, I want to make sure I'm safe and I want to make sure that the people who run the gym are safe.
What are you doing all across the country to make sure that your customers and your trainers are safe. And that's a great concern for everybody, but it's no different than the concerns that Costco would have or home Depot would have or Walmart would have that at any time during the day has the same number of clients and customers in it that a Jim does.
And so what we're doing as the Fit Body Boot Camp brand across the nation is we've created a 25 page document called the Fit Body protocol on reopening. And this is really about sanitizing our clients before they walk in. We have. Pure LA stations that they will sanitize their hands and we will, bleach and water spray the bottom of their shoes.
So they don't bring any, any contaminants into the gyms. And to the Fit Body Boot Camp, we have marked off eight by eight squares that we call train in place, modality. In other words, whatever pieces of equipment you have in your eight by eight square is what you're working out with. And the clients are not rotating, touching other equipment and a cross contaminating one another.
So we've gone above and beyond, and we've sent this to governor Newsome, we've sent this to the Corona task force. The CDC Krone task force just just for their review. We never got a response back, but the point is, we must open up because of governor Newsome continues to stall and push gyms and others, you know, boutiques, fitness studios, and even big box gyms now, which are filing for bankruptcy.
30 days from now, we will have greater financial disaster than Corona virus could ever cause by itself. Right? You know better. As I was talking to a couple of small business owners, socially distanced, they were across the street. I was hollering at them over the weekend, and they were frustrated that the government, whether it's the state government or.
Federal government or local governments seem to be picking winners and losers. You know, you're doing all sorts of social distancing things the same that the grocery stores are doing. And yet the grocery stores are allowed to be open, but your not, it's gotta be frustrating because you've got gyms open in Utah, Kansas, Oklahoma, Georgia, Virginia, Texas, Indiana, Alaska, Iowa, South Dakota, where you're doing things to keep people safe, but you can't do it yet.
In California. That's exactly right. In every single one of those States that you've mentioned, we've already opened up our Fit Body Boot Camp gems, and they're running successfully. People are enjoying the workouts and they're excited to be there. Yet in California, we seem to have stalled, and ironically, as you know, California is a fitness capital of our nation.
