Finding Middle Ground Podcast - 26. change IS scary; treat it like an experiment
play

01/23/25 • 40 min

Change is definitely at the forefront of my mind right now as my due date approaches and all the other things happening in life right now plus this seemed to be a theme that kept coming up with clients so I figured I would record an episode about it! I chat all things change and I share how I am trying to approach and navigate this time for myself and of course leave you with some really tangible things to try for yourself! Oh and I might go on a few tangents, oopsies!
RAIN technique:
R: recognize what is coming up for you
A: allow yourself to fully experience and feel the emotions coming up without trying to fix, avoid or push away
I: investigate with curiosity, not judgment (where do I feel this in my body? what stories am I telling myself right now? what do I need in this moment?)
N: nurture with compassion; essentially treat yourself like you would treat a dear friend or loved one going through this experience
Book mentioned (& one I 1000% recommend): Radical Acceptance by Tara Brach

Finding Middle Ground Podcast - 25. pregnancy & weight gain; what you actually need to know
play

01/09/25 • 42 min

I posted something on Instagram a little bit ago and there was just so much more I wanted to say so I had to record an episode on all my thoughts. I share my own personal experiences as well as my opinions and thoughts on this topic given my background as a therapist specializing in eating disorders. This is a topic that needs to be talked about more so I'm hoping to help start the conversation!

It's important to note that I am not a medical doctor so this not medical advice but rather me sharing my own experiences and why I believe things need to change.

In this episode, I chat all about emotions (surprise surprise 🙃) but specifically the emotions that have been coming up for me as I get further along in my pregnancy! The ones that most people don't really talk about, always in the hope that I can help put words to someone's experience or help someone feel less alone if they are going through something similar🫶🏼 And of course, I also share how I've been navigating these emotions and THE tool that has been a game changer for me!

play

06/19/24 • 35 min

Finding Middle Ground Podcast - 13. how I feel about diagnosing as a therapist
play

08/14/24 • 34 min

STRAP IN friends because this mayyyy be a controversial topic .. oopsies! And if I'm being super transparent here (which I always try to be), I recorded this almost 2 months ago and have hesitated publishing it .. 🫣 BUT I am in my sharing my truths unapologetically era so let's dive in!
I chat allll about how I personally feel about diagnosing in the therapeutic space and also why I believe therapists need to go the extra mile when it comes to having conversations with clients around diagnosing and making sure we (as therapists) are considering the impact - short and long term.
This is a tadddd different than my other episodes so far but one I feel like I was meant to share✌🏼

Finding Middle Ground Podcast - 06. body image + why healing this relationship can be SO challenging

TW: I do mention numbers in relation to weight (I give a verbal warning before I do this as well) so if you're not in the headspace to hear that, please feel free to skip that part. Always do what is best for you!
Well it's time for me to get vulnerable again, I mean I'm pretty sure there are things that I share that I've never actually spoken out loud before 😳 oh well, let's get right into it .. all things body image, my relationship with exercise, how this has changed overtime and why it is so damn hard to heal this within yourself.
As always, my hope is that you'll find some kind of solace in my words because you know that you're not alone. I'm in your corner, whether you want me or not and I'm sending so much love babes😘

If you struggle with your emotions, you are NOT alone. Trust me. Most of us were not given the education or tools to navigate our emotions in a supportive way so we basically just did whatever we could to survive. I want to share my own journey when it comes to the relationship with my emotions and maybe you'll feel a little less alone afterward and just maybeeee you will be a little less hard on yourself as you continue to go on your own healing journey♡

Join me in this episode as I chat all about my theory around how the defined vs. undefined sacral center can impact whether you are more susceptible to under or overstimulation! And of course I share some tangible tools for how to navigate them! So total transparency, this episode is a little all over the place but that's okay because this little corner in the podcast space is all about embracing the messy humanness we all have 💁🏻‍♀️
