Find Your Voice - 3 Ways To Fix Your Mindset #40
play

09/16/19 • 9 min

"How to fix a broken mindset" #40 by Aren Deu

Tagline: "If you don't adopt this, then Find your voice becomes a pointless session"

Your mindset is everything. A simple definition of the word 'mindset' is that it is a collection of beliefs and thoughts. Now if we expand on the importance of it, then we have to recognise that our mindset will have an unprecedented impact on our day-to-day lives. We are governed so strongly by the things we believe and think, even when we do not realise it.

Now of course, when I say I am proposing 3 ways to fix a broken mindset, I want you to recognise that this is to help you move towards a growth mindset. This is said in tongue in cheek, and plays on words by using the word "fix". Remember fixing a mindset, does not mean getting a fixed mindset. Especially as a fixed mindset is a broken mindset.

The aim of this episode is to get you all to walk away with 3 tangible steps, that require no unique talents or effort, yet can still massively enhance your life. Just by operating and utilising these 3 steps you will instantly realise and reap the benefits from changing your thoughts and initial beliefs.

I sincerely hope after this episode you gain genuine value. Funnily enough, I dislike talking for the sake of talking as I truly appreciate time is our most important commodity. So just to have you tune in, means the world to me. But what would mean more, would be to see you all implement even just 1 of the steps in this podcast.

Let me also know how you found it and if you have any others to share too.

P.s. Any shares of the podcast, this episode or others, on social media (tag me in) I will repost and re share as many of them as possible too!

Have an awesome day!

Find Your Voice - How to deal with Trauma #30

"Everlasting touch" by Kimberly JoNell #30

Tagline: "Compassion, kindness, connection, empathy & love will carry throughout human civilization"

What an incredibly beautiful soul Kimberly JoNell is.

A woman who has faced her biggest fears, of losing her friend, both parents and her belongings to Hurricane Katrina. A lady who spends every waking hour serving others, with no expectation of receiving anything back. A graceful individual who focuses on making the world a better place for children, teenagers and all those who experience trauma to some level in their lives. I am forever grateful to have shared an hour with Kimberly as I genuinely believed I learnt so much from her story, her experience, her wisdom and knowledge. She is someone who has shown me I have yet so many further steps to travel. But she also showed me that I was right in what I was doing.

We must all live to and through our own purpose. We must become self-aware and recognise our own beauties and become in touch with ourselves so that we can then leave an everlasting touch to the rest of the world.

It was also the first time I have ever shown clips of the episode prior to launching because I have genuinely never felt such a connection with someone, whose message is so pure, authentic and sincere. I urge you all to support this amazing lady and follow her incredible journey on the links shown below.

Some key discussion points:

  1. How to become more self-aware
  2. The importance of self-love
  3. Facing and overcoming adversity
  4. Intent and sincerity
  5. Living with energy and inspiration
  6. Importance of being curious

"Happiness abound" by Taylor Proctor #29

Tagline: "We are all capable of happiness abound"

What an incredible episode this was. If I am completely honest and share my own vulnerabilities with this particular interview, I feel I wasn't at my best. I felt Taylor touched on so many things that resonated with me and reminded me of how far I still have to go on my journey that it almost became a self realisation exercise. This then threw me off course as it may be noticeable in the episode, but what it didn't do was throw Taylor off who delivered incredible value. It is for reason I am eternally grateful for the opportunity to have connected with Taylor who I believe will truly teach you all something tangible and useful to take away in your lives.

I know for one, I will be implementing the CLEAR model myself to move my own personal development forward and I hope you can all do this too. She is an incredible woman, who also openly admits to not being this way her whole life and that it has been a process for her.

I genuinely believe the tangible steps and tips that Taylor shares just in this episode alone can make you all happier, and let's be honest who doesn't want more happiness in their life eh?

More importantly for anyone who can relate to the anger issues, perhaps this may also give you a huge insight in to why we are the way we are.

Some key discussion points:

  1. How to control your anger
  2. Self love
  3. CLEAR model
  4. Embracing the process

Remember whatever you are going through in life today, that you are 'not broken'. We can all heal, and we and grow as Taylor shows and shares in her beautiful story and also don't stop learning here. Go and support her and follow her podcast and journey in the links below:

"How Society affects teenagers today" by Balraj Purewal #26

Tagline: "These are the broken pieces of the puzzle that you still end up piecing together.."

Life has moved on so quickly and within the space of a generation our world is now seen through a phone, almost 24/7. In fact I can't recall the last time I went out myself and didn't snap, Instagram or Facebook a status update.

But for the youth of today they experience larger problems and issues, such as seeking external validation, comparison amongst peers and so often finding themselves missing the beauty of the presence.

It is with this I decided to interview a teenager to show us, and give us a first insight into the life of a teen today. He explains very eloquently the struggles, the good the bad and the types of challenges he is presented with daily, amongst other teens.

He is a poet at a heart, currently studying at my favourite university (no bias), whilst trying to figure out where he fits in the world amongst figuring out the intent of other people.

We speak about many things in this episode that I really enjoyed recording such as:

  1. Intent
  2. Importance of internal validation
  3. Being true to yourself
  4. Finding your voice
  5. Working hard
  6. Using social media for what it is today

A guy who is wise beyond his years and someone I believe will go on and achieve his dreams in the world today, I urge you all to show him some support and follow his journey below:

P.s. remember any new reviews on iTunes, just send me a screenshot either on twitter, instagram or to my email and ill send you the diet and gym plan as promised. It will likely be a 7-day window due to the volume of listeners.

Find your voice - Episode 21 "Using exercise to help your Mental Health" Michael Hayes #22

Tagline: "What's for you, won't pass you" - Michael Hayes

Michael Hayes, is one of the most positive, infectious people I have been fortunate enough to have connected with during my time as a Podcaster. A genuine individual who focuses in his own time on promoting positive links between mental health and exercise and whilst spreading authentic, honest and tangible messages through his social media platforms.

Michael does not do this for any monetary reasons, but since seeing those close to him suffer with mental health he made a choice to use his expertise in health and fitness and promote a positive link of enhancing not just your physical well-being through exercise but also improving your overall mental health.

Our first Irish/Aussie on the show who proves that real messages and honest advice is the same across the world and if you want to ensure you get genuine advice his story is definitely worth following. Michael also admits to having suffered little adversity in his life although when you finish this episode you would probably agree that even if he was, or had, he would not have seen it as a burden or adversity and likely just smiled his way through it.

All the links to follow Michael's journey are below and a final note before you go check that out, which I think is worth mentioning and came from his mother is: "What's for you, won't pass you".

I urge you all to follow his journey and support him on making a positive difference in the world of fitness and mental health.

Find your voice - Episode 21 "From Surviving Rape to Finding Her Voice" - Hannah Power #21

Tagline: "Embracing adversity is the biggest gift you can give yourself" - Hannah Power

Hannah Power shares her story of being tragically raped having been abducted by 3 men whilst on holiday and discusses how the adversity and nightmare she suffered has now given her a new lease of life and purpose. She is now 100% committed to ensuring other rape survivors no longer become victims for the rest of their lives.

Alongside this Hannah Power is also known for her branding expertise as she urges people to find faith and confidence in themselves to really bring out their unique gifts which they can offer to the world. With her assistance she helps people 'find their voice' and it was for this reason we had to get her on the show.

Hannah's mindset is one that we can all take valuable lessons from without hopefully going through the same pain she has been through but it is now her light that shines so brightly we can all benefit from.

I urge you all to follow her journey and support her on making a difference in the world.

Sadly, positive thoughts alone won't necessarily single handedly change your circumstances. If you listened to Episode 59, with Dr Linda Williams or follow one of my favourite neuroscientists Dr Joe Dispensa, you would have likely heard positive thinking doesn't always work.

There is science behind it & hopefully I articulate that well enough in this episode to add some value and help you really take control & start to slowly change your life.

Key quotes:

"Practice makes permanent" - Unknown

"To change your personal reality, you need to change your personality" - Dr Joe Dispensa

"“Neurons that fire together, wire together.” - Unknown

Thanks for listening
