"Kindness matters, matched with uncomfortability" by Chelsea Von #61
The journey of finding one's individual purpose is crucial for us all to really understand what we are meant to do in this very short space of time on this Earth. For Chelsea, this came through seeing her parents battle with mental health, bipolar disorder and seeing her own mom tragically take her life. Chelsea has had to grow up quicker than most and deal with her own mental health having seen the ill effects that it can have, not just on day-to-day life but also for those of us who struggle to continue. Now starting her initiative of the YouTake10 Project,
Chelsea is trying to change the conversation and to create and spread awareness of kindness, compassion but more so, ensuring she addresses the mental health and suicide stigmas that exist.
This was our first ever live YouTube recording, where you will see mistakes, nervousness, but raw genuine conversations about what we both believe can help people move forward. Chelsea shares her deepest vulnerabilities and stories to hopefully spread light and help others recognise that they are not alone. That together we are strong, with kindness and compassion and together we can learn to manage our own well-being better, so that we can then serve others much better.
I urge you all to please follow and support this amazing project, The YouTake10 Project. It is one that I feel strongly about and believe will change the future for so many people.

Why Positive Thinking Doesn't Work #60 - By Aren Deu
So as we embark on our personal development journey, we often recognise that Positive thinking, although is great, doesn't always work.
Sadly, positive thoughts alone won't necessarily single handedly change your circumstances. If you listened to Episode 59, with Dr Linda Williams or follow one of my favourite neuroscientists Dr Joe Dispensa, you would have likely heard positive thinking doesn't always work.
There is science behind it & hopefully I articulate that well enough in this episode to add some value and help you really take control & start to slowly change your life.
Key quotes:
"Practice makes permanent" - Unknown
"To change your personal reality, you need to change your personality" - Dr Joe Dispensa
"“Neurons that fire together, wire together.” - Unknown

5 Ways to be Kind to Yourself, When You Feel Low #58
Find Your Voice
11/21/19 • 10 min
"Do Not Feel Guilty, For Prioritising Your Mental & Physical Health" by Aren Deu #58
So having these funky days, where everything seems grim, gloomy and life seems a little bleurgh!
Motivation is low, excitement is non-existent and you just sit there thinking what the hell is going on in my head?
Why am I feeling this way?
Why have I suddenly started feeling bad, or low when yesterday was perfect?
Why have I suddenly started feeling low when I have so much to look forward too.
So what I did on this very spontaneous episode, was to speak about what I actually did on my last "funky" / "low" day. Because let's be honest we can all preach over and over what we should do. But saying and doing are the 2 completely different things. So for that reason, I have given a 100% transparent account of what I did on my last "funky" day!
Yes it could be better, but it could have been worse too. What I want this episode and previous episodes to show you, is that there is no blueprint for this. But there are many ways to mitigate the adverse effects and try and move the needle back to a happier you!
I hope you find this useful, and if you are ever feeling low please do reach out!
PS for those of you have listened to my podcasts for a while, you have seen some of these short fire episodes to give you tangible takeaways. If you are new however, please check out the episodes on Self Love & Self Awareness tips previously. These are Episode #52 & #54 which I believe will massively help you move forward in life, and maintain a more positive mental state.
5 Tips recommended in this Podcast:
- Make sure you take time out for you
- Treat yourself
- Know it will never lasts forever
- Be compassionate to yourself
- Speak to someone you love/trust

From Living with a Disability to Competing in the Paralympics, James Roberts share his story #53
Find Your Voice
11/04/19 • 47 min
"Adapt #53 by James Roberts
Tagline: "At times I wanted to be anything but disabled"
James Roberts is the host of the Mindset Athlete Podcast, a speaker, a coach and also a Paralympian who has represented his country in 2008/2012.
In this particular episode I wanted to extract the mindset of someone who has operated at the top level. I wanted to see how easy it was, or difficult to transfer the lessons of being a top athlete into other aspects and arenas in your life. I wanted to also delve into James mindset and extract his doubts, fears and see how we could dehumanise him, in the most respectful way to show us, as non-elite athletes that we too could achieve anything we truly want.
This was a fascinating discussion as James shared some of his major vulnerabilities about 75% through the show but also spoke about how he grew up as a teenager, wanting to be anything but disabled. This made my heart sink, hearing those words. Yet disciplined, consistent and persistence in his pursuit of being more and doing more James continued to achieve his dreams.
I enjoyed everything he stood for. From playing the long game, to his approach towards fat loss. His ethical, sustainable approach to helping people lose weight mirrors that of which I have taught for 8+ years. He is someone who has fought battles not just in the arena, but also within his own mind, conquering them to great success.
Some key topics discussed:
[07:00] Viewing competition as a positive
[10:00] Fad diets & Fat loss
[18:15] Questioning one's identity
[28:50] Failure is not bad
[35:08] James vulnerability of not working enough
[44:05] The importance of playing the long game
I urge you all to follow his amazing journey, share this episode with anyone you think it will help and go out there and Find Your Voice.

3 Ways To Fix Your Mindset #40
Find Your Voice
09/16/19 • 9 min
"How to fix a broken mindset" #40 by Aren Deu
Tagline: "If you don't adopt this, then Find your voice becomes a pointless session"
Your mindset is everything. A simple definition of the word 'mindset' is that it is a collection of beliefs and thoughts. Now if we expand on the importance of it, then we have to recognise that our mindset will have an unprecedented impact on our day-to-day lives. We are governed so strongly by the things we believe and think, even when we do not realise it.
Now of course, when I say I am proposing 3 ways to fix a broken mindset, I want you to recognise that this is to help you move towards a growth mindset. This is said in tongue in cheek, and plays on words by using the word "fix". Remember fixing a mindset, does not mean getting a fixed mindset. Especially as a fixed mindset is a broken mindset.
The aim of this episode is to get you all to walk away with 3 tangible steps, that require no unique talents or effort, yet can still massively enhance your life. Just by operating and utilising these 3 steps you will instantly realise and reap the benefits from changing your thoughts and initial beliefs.
I sincerely hope after this episode you gain genuine value. Funnily enough, I dislike talking for the sake of talking as I truly appreciate time is our most important commodity. So just to have you tune in, means the world to me. But what would mean more, would be to see you all implement even just 1 of the steps in this podcast.
Let me also know how you found it and if you have any others to share too.
P.s. Any shares of the podcast, this episode or others, on social media (tag me in) I will repost and re share as many of them as possible too!
Have an awesome day!

5 Ways to Be Happy, Backed by Science #62 - By Aren Deu
So Happiness is the #1 goal for us all. There is nobody I have yet met in this world who does not want to be happy. Yet we often forget that this is the key, and we chase elusive goals or pursuit materialistic things that serve us no real long term purpose or fulfilment.
So what I did was do a bit of research and find 5 proven happiness hacks that you can literally implement today, to help you improve your overall mood and live a much better life.
The 5 are:
- Becoming aware and recognising your good & bad emotions
- Social Connections
- Master something + Progression
- Know when to say No
- Spend money on experiences & not things!
Now whether these are new to you or not, these work! So I need you to recognise them and really try to implement them in your day to day life. I promise you they will help you move the needle forward in your life.
Reach out, if you are ever having difficulty too, I am always hear to act as a soundboard as and when time permits.
