Black Lives Matter.
This podcast episode is dedicated to the Black and African American communities. This episode is for you.
The tragic death of George Floyd sent people to streets to protest and fight for equality. What made George Floyd’s death different? I asked myself this because other innocent black lives were taken before his. I was listening to the podcast “This American Life” discuss this exact question, and they said it perfectly, 'The murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis was the straw that broke the camel's back.’ Yes, I have watched the entire video. Yes, it was uncomfortable, but that video made me reach out to people to help me do this mini-series.
Today’s guest is Dominique Henderson, CFP®. Some may know him as the CFP ® on YouTube! Dominique is the Founder of DJH Capital Management, LLC, and The Jumpstart Coaching Lab. He is on a mission to help coach the next generation of financial professionals. He also runs his own YouTube channel! I have attached his resources to the podcast description. I highly recommend that you watch his videos or attend his live streams if you are staring in the field or making a career change.
In today’s podcast, I ask Dominique questions related to his experience with the Association Of African American Financial Advisors (AAAA). What tips he would give young Black planners. I also ask him about some possible effects people in the profession could experience as a result of the protests.

Financial Planning in Our Modern World
04/12/20 • 18 min
Welcome back to another episode of Financial Planning in Our Modern World! In today’s episode, I talk about the six homeowners (HO) policies. I noticed that there was so much information to remember about these policies. There are even four different ‘part’ coverages that are categorized as “A – D”. While giving a brief description of what they are as a policy, I also give either a rhyme or a tip to remember the different HO policies. Enjoy the podcast and I hope to hear some feedback.

Ep. 8: YOUR NAME
Financial Planning in Our Modern World
03/16/20 • 34 min
HAPPY SUNDAY FUNDAY. It is a pleasure to produce another podcast episode. This was way overdue, but I have had a lot of time to think about this podcast. In this podcast, I focus on an acronym I created, YOUR NAME. The acronym was developed after Texas Tech had its opportunities day. During the opportunity days, I noticed some things from employees and employers. I have let the dust settle down to deliver the episode. I have created eight concepts to apply as an employee and an employer. Below you can find the acronym meaning. The final goal we all should have is growth.
Y – Why are you doing financial planning?
O – Opportunities and being Open-minded
U – Understanding your worth
R – Right now, are you doing enough?
N – Networking
A – Authenticity
M – Mentorship
E – Employees & Employers
(YOUR NAME is an acronym created for Financial Planning in Our Modern World. The acronym is property of the podcast and Aaron De La Cruz)

You’re either going to love or hate this episode. Maybe that is your relationship with technology, a hate or love one. Today, I am going to talk about technology in the Financial Planning world. This episode has been inspired by one of my classes. This episode was also influenced by certain financial planning related websites. Technology has already had some of the biggest influences in financial planning. For example, we can Skype or Zoom our clients from around the world! As a full disclosure, I am not sponsored by any of the companies I mention in the episode. The following content is purely my opinion. The research was done ahead of time.
