Charles is a Midwestern boy who grew up in Iowa. After high school, he joined the United States Marine Corps, and spent four years in service, including a combat tour in Vietnam. When he came back, he was stationed in Kansas City, and met and married his wife. She was ten years older than he was and together they had five kids. They were married for 45 years before she passed.
After the military, he found that his military experience was not valued in business. So he went to school, got his credentials, and become a BBA and an MBA in quick order. He passed his CPA exam while he was still in graduate school. He went to work for Texas Instruments. He spent 15 years in the the corporate world, small corporations, big ones, and startups.
Charles quickly realized that he was never going to get to the top of a major corporation as he did not have the political skills needed to wiggle his way to the top. Unwilling to stab people in the back and toss them off the ladder, he started Get Payroll
