Building Tables: Thoughtful Table Design
06/11/23 • 37 min
In this week’s message, Caleb Panter walked us through two passages, Luke 7:36-50 and Matthew 25:31–40. He showed us how Jesus repurposed the meaning of the cross and the table. The cross was used by the Roman Empire as a symbol of death and power, but Jesus made it the representation of eternal life and a heavenly kingdom. The table which was previously used by religious leaders to exert power and control through legalism, became a place of grace and hospitality through Christ. The woman who was considered an outsider and a sinner becomes the unlikely host, showing radical, sacrificial love to Christ at the table.
