Kyle Buchanan

Hey friend - my name is Kyle Buchanan and although I talk nutrition and health for a living nowadays - whether through talks, videos, or as a resident contributor on Canada's "The Morning Show", it was NOT that long ago that I was an anxious, drunken, closeted, self-doubty wreck. Being a grown up is tough, and messy - where we’re confident one day and anxiety-ridden the next. I don't like faking it. I DO however, like getting it all out in the open, laughing about it, and then exploring a few tools that can help us feel better if (and only if) we are in the mood. So whether it’s solo episodes or honest conversations with spectacular guests -this show is the blend of revelations, self-help, knowledge and gay magic that NO one asked for, but everyone needs. And I'm so glad you're here.

This was a coming in hot episode...
Ever feel like everything’s hitting you harder than usual? The anger, the overwhelm, the deep emotions that seem to come out of nowhere? In today’s episode, we’re getting real about those big feelings that can take over our days, especially when rage or frustration seems to creep in faster than normal.

We’ll explore why these emotions are showing up and how to find some peace and grounding, with practical tools you can use today to help you feel a little bit “gooder.” I’m sharing what’s been going on for me personally, and what I’ve been doing to keep my cool (mostly). From foods that help calm your system, to a couple of woo-woo but effective visualizations, and a few natural remedies to consider, I’ve got your back if you’re feeling it all right now.

We’re Covering:

  • Why you might be feeling more than usual lately (hello, lunar eclipse vibes)
  • How intense emotions like rage and overwhelm can stop us from moving forward
  • The power of slowing down when you’re feeling quick to react
  • Meditation tips (yes, even if you hate it) that actually help
  • Foods to help ground you and why what you eat can impact your mood on an energetic level
  • Two gentle homeopathic remedies (Passionflower Composé and Quietude) that might offer some support
  • Today’s “feelgood thing” submitted by a listener that will brighten your day

If you're an over-thinker, or someone who feels emotions intensely, today’s episode is for you.
I’m joined by Betsy Dwight, an expert (and my coach!) in EFT tapping (Emotional Freedom Technique), to discuss how this powerful tool can help you process emotions in a healthy, productive way.

If you've been listening to the past few episodes - you know that lately, I’ve been feeling everything more intensely, and am more quick to anger. I also know I'm not alone in this.
The weight of emotions can feel overwhelming. And that's where tapping comes in— it's something FREE to do (nothing needed but your fingers) - and it's been a HUGE help in my life since I started doing it last spring.
Not only will Betsy outline the concept, she'll also do a (quick) LIVE session with me, where I get real honest and process what's been going on.
And in this episode, Betsy shares how EFT can help you reconnect with your intuition and release built-up emotional tension.
We’re covering:

  • How losing touch with your intuition happens, especially for sensitive, ambitious individuals
  • What EFT tapping is
  • How it works to regulate your nervous system and energy system
  • The types of emotional and physical challenges EFT can help address
  • The surprising speed at which people see results from tapping
  • Betsy walking me through my issues in a tapping sequence for anger
  • How it can be used alongside other modalities
  • Betsy's feel good thing!

About Betsy:
Betsy Dwight created Sensitive Soul: Coaching + Healing from her personal experience as an ambitious, overly analytical, highly sensitive woman living in a pressured world that disconnected her from her greatest strength: her intuition.

She is a certified EFT Tapping practitioner with a specialty in mindfulness coaching. Betsy holds a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology, along with advanced studies in Applied Mindfulness, yoga therapeutics, and Emotional Freedom Techniques (tapping).

With an intuitive and compassionate approach, Betsy combines her clinical experience and somatic practices to equip her clients with the skills needed to navigate strong emotions, tame their overthinking tendencies, and reconnect with themselves. She finds joy in helping guide others to discover their inner strengths and live their most aligned and authentic lives.

If this headline made you do a double take, you're not alone.
We know that the nutrition world can be incredibly confusing, and frankly, incredibly annoying.
Part of the reason I do this podcast is to vent about my frustrations about the industry, because sometimes it really is exhausting to see all of the contradictory information out there. And it can leave us feeling like there’s not even a point in trying, which doesn’t serve us.
Recently, a headline came out stating that intermittent fasting might be associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular death . . . which is a very dramatic statement. So in today’s episode, I want us to eat a major grain of salt and really break this all down, so you feel equipped to come to your own conclusions.
We're covering:

  • what I did immediately when this article was sent to me
  • what was the study that made this claim? was it a published study?
  • why are observational studies tricky?
  • let's play devil's advocate . . . what could be a reason for this finding? why could intermittent fasting increase the risk of cardiovascular death?
  • why it could be more important that ever to focus on this one macronutrient
  • the takeaway
  • today's feelgood thing

Beckie is now leading the bone-broth movement! Over the past few years, Beck’s Broth has grown significantly, and Beckie has built a loyal following while gaining traction across the country. The products are now carried in almost 100 stores with partners and online retailers across Canada including Well.ca, Natura Market and Healthy Planet. She studied Biological Engineering at the University of Guelph and achieved a Master’s in Food and Sustainability Engineering with an OMAFRA Scholarship and Dean’s Award. Domenique joined Beck’s Broth in 2024 to bring her informed and strategic lens to product innovation and operations. She heads up Operations and is working on some juicy innovation for the company’s newest product drop ... but you’ll have to wait to find out more!

When I started this podcast, I had a list of some dream people I wanted to talk to. Among that list, was Carson Tueller.
He’s someone I’ve followed for years, and whose writing and work has made a significant impact on me, especially on the days where I’m feeling like crap, or unworthy for whatever reason.
So I was SO thrilled when he agreed to come on the show. He has an incredible story, and he’s become an incredible force in the personal development space, among MANY other spaces.
In today’s episode we’re talking:

  • feelgoodery shorts all August long
  • Carson’s Story
  • Confronting your own premises
  • How to feel empowered and afraid at the same time
  • Why the term expert can be annoying
  • Ableism

Carson’s Bio:

Carson Tueller is a coach, speaker, and writer whose transformational work explores andchallenges our notions of freedom, identity, and radical self-discovery. Carson’s work began when the trajectory of his life changed in 2013 - not only did he come out and leave his lifelong Mormon faith, but he was also injured in an accident that left him paralyzed. Carson took what seemed to many like an insurmountable tragedy and turned it into the foundation of personal transformation.
Carson has since risen to become an influential speaker, personal transformation coach, and advocate for queer and disabled people. He is a prominent figure on social media, featured in major publications and award-winning podcasts, sharing his unique message with audience worldwide. His diverse talents have taken him all over the globe, from speaking internationally to serving as a policy advisor for a major presidential campaign in 2020.
Carson's mission lies in empowering individuals to reconnect to their authentic selves. Equipped with a deep understanding of the human condition, he is a master at unlocking human potential, freeing individuals from the constraints and barriers that keep them from living fulfilling, meaningful lives.
Carson Tueller is more than just a coach and speaker - he's a catalyst for change.
